What a great year it has been for Robert Pattinson.  In less than a year, he has starred in three feature films, Twilight: New Moon,  Eclipse, and Remember Me.   You might think that Pattinson would take some time off after working so hard in such a short period of time, but Pattinson tells us this is not so.   Pattinson is working like crazy and recently gave us his long list of future projects.

I must confess. I didn’t like Robert Pattinson. And today I wish I had stood back. When Twilight was released and we saw that 10,000 people were camping in front of the movie theater of Los Angeles where the premiere was taking place , our first reaction as journalist was : “But why are they enjoying this saga ?”

When Pattinson had arrived a few hours later , he was so overwhelmed that he quickly disappeared. Just a few words to the media . We had thus concluded that this guy was big headed . It was a huge mistake. In fact , Pattinson is a real shy guy . Moreover , he is English , so he is a phlegmatic shy person. And when we chatted with him , for the release of Eclipse , I realized that he didn’t expect such a phenomenon that night at the Twilight premiere . Robert Pattinson is only 24 and nowadays , he is the most desired bachelor of the world. . And trust me , he still can’t cope with his fame . So he stays at home , never goes out at night and when he’s not playing this 107 years old virgin vampire, he chooses interesting roles in interesting films . But let’s focus today on Eclipse because it’s been released all around the world , I hope you will forgive me for this easy play on words . Here is “Interview with a vampire”

R.M. : Since you’re English, you must have followed the FIFA world cup . Why do you think this event is so important in the world?
R.P. : The english team is always a good one , we always have the best players and no one is supposed to play better than us , but everytime , it’s not enough to win
I don’t know why football is so important and why it gathers so many people. Maybe because it’s easy to understand this sport . The more a sport attracts people ; the more popular it’ll be , that’s why I never understood why football isn’t so popular in the USA . It’s incredible to see such a huge and rich country unable to have a good football team . I must say they improve and thay have a great football team now.

R.M. : You’re only 24 and you’re on the spotlights , is it difficult not to make mistakes?
R.P. : Yes , it’s always frustrating and people always expect me to do some mistakes to pounce on me. But I like being imperfect. We can’t always look perfect and sell such an image. It’s impossible. Anyway, I never tried to do so , it’d be dangerous . And I’ve always made a million mistakes (laughs…)

R.M. : and if you did a film which happens to be a failure ?
R.P. : as long as I’m making a film for good reasons , and not money ‚it’ll be OK . If I decide to do a film just for money , there’ll be problems. Nothing can be good if you do it for money or for fame . If we choose to do a film because we think it’s a good story, then even if it’s a failure, I don’t mind. I’ve never been attracted by money or fame . My desires are quite limited, so I guess it’ll be OK!

R.M. : Your upcoming film is Bel Ami , an adaption of Maupassant’s novel . You also played Salvador Dali and then you did Twilight.These aren’t classical choices
R.P. : I never thought about what I wanted to do . And when you’re not famous , we can do independent films , more artistic films . And you have to be lucky to do it ! Then when I did Twilight, I didn’t expect that success . First because it was directed by Catherine Hardwicke who comes from the independent cinema industry. And then because Kristen Stewart was cast . She had only done independent films . I thought it’d be a simple love story with vampires and that maybe it’d become a strange remembered film . Obviously , it became this huge phenomenon and no one had predicted it. Once you’re in it , you have to surf on the success wave! I won’t complain to be in a successful film!

R.M. : You told us you don’t do films for money , but due to the success of Twilight, did you take part to the negotiations?
R.P. : In a way , I did . But it’s my manager and my agent who deal with it . My only wish is to go on working . The other aspects bother me. And I don’t think about money when I do films one after the other . It’s what I enjoy . Before Twilight, I did a tiny film “Little Ashes”. There was no budget and above all no money for me but it allowed me to live 4 months in Barcelona, just for this film. It was awesome ! Except that , my life is the same , I always do the same things . So there aren’t so many difference between the past and the present

R.M. : You play the guitar and you had a group . Is music important for you ?
R.P. : It’s very important and I think being an actor helped me for my music. In the past, I wasn’t interested in music . My sister who is a singer introduced me to this world . This indutry is much more difficult thant the film industry. You’re not really respected when you’re an actor , but when you shoot a film , in the end you’re paid . In the music industry , you’re constantly asked to improve yourself . You work again on your music and once it’s done, you’re not paid !The only reason I started doing music and trying to record albums, it’s because I’m a bit famous , and it’d perhaps help me playing with famous artists .Once you’re famous as an actor, doors are open for music . So I hope I could record some songs , but just for me .If it’s for money , it’s useless . And I consider that if you earn money no one can listen to you until it’s over , nobody can judge you either

R.M. : What can you tell us about Breaking Dawn.
R.P. :Bill Condon is going to direct it , but I haven’t read the script yet . It’ll be 2 different films . I confess I’m a bit afraid that this franchise is going to end . It’s a safety net which enables us to make some mistakes in these films beause we know there’ll always be another one .But once it’s over , it’s over ! I’m glad we shoot the films one after the other . I used to try to shoot a film in between Twilight films . For Eclipse, I had to embody Edward again in one week , and it was hard . One week preparation, it wasn’t easy and I was stressed at the beginning. So for the next installements, I could be Edward during the shooting of both films .

R.M. : Speaking about Edward, he’s a 107 years old virgin vampire ?
R.P. : (Laughs ) How old is he ? I think he’s 109 or 110…

R.M. : And he never had sexual relationship before?
R.P. : I think he had an adventure with another vampire, in Alaska, but it’s not mentionned ! (laughs) In the first book , it’s briefly alluded to but I don’t remember it well . I don’t think it’s clearly explained . Fans enjoy thinking he’s still a virgin !

What would tempt you?
I think I want to do something contemporary. I’m a bit fed up with corsets, to tell you the truth. I’m filming in a corset at the moment [in Bel Ami]. It’s a really great part: Declan Donnellan, the director, saw that I could perhaps do something else but be haughty and distant, which people always try to fit me into.

And now you’re working on an adaptation of Maupassant’s Bel Ami with a great cast: Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and boy of the moment Robert Pattinson.
He’s very sweet. We have all these squealing girls outside the set. So, for him, you stop work, then you step outside to not be an actor any more, but you’ve got to run this gauntlet of fans, when you’re desperate to get home. I would hate that. Once they say “cut”, I’m off. I’m going to the cinema after this [the interview], and I won’t get stopped, I won’t be bothered. It’ll be absolutely fine

Is that something you contrived?
I never look the same as I do on screen, because film is flattering and perhaps real life isn’t? (She laughs.) People are like,’Oh my God, it’s not, is it?’ It is you know…

2. Water For Elephants
What’s this, another Robert Pattinson film? Of course, he is the hottest thing in Hollywood right now. He plays a veterinarian who joins a traveling circus in the Great Depression. Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz star in this heart felt film about a torn love between his character and the married Marlena (Reese Witherspoon) and his new way of training a stubborn elephant that should get the approval of PETA.

8. Bel Ami
The Story of the rise to power of Georges Duroy in Paris by manipulating the city’s most influential and wealthy women. This film stars Twilight’s Robert Pattinson and many are anxiously waiting to see if Robert can hold his own against Hollywood sirens like Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas.

Robert Pattinson may be the heart throb of teen girls everywhere but just a few years ago he was a struggling actor just looking to find his break in Hollywood. In The Many Faces of Robert Pattinson we take a look at his career the roles he has played and where he is going from here.

Despite the fact that many think that Robert Pattinson is nothing more then a teen heart throb his young career clearly shows that he is much about films with substance as he is about being a star. Twilight has made Robert a household name but believe it or not Robert Pattinson has played much more then just a vampire.

Vanity Fair: Robert Pattinsons first role was in Vanity Fair where he played Rawdy Crawley in a small role. Vanity Fair based in Elizabethan times is about a poor woman named Becky Sharp ( played by Reese Witherspoon ) who despite growing up in poverty defies the social ladder to advance her life. It follows the span of 20 years.

Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire: After Vanity Fair Robert had a few small roles but his next big one was Harry Potter which is quite ironic considering he goes on to be the lead in the teen sensation of Twilight which is really a successor to Harry Potter in my books. Robert Pattinson played the role of Cedric Diggory one of 2 Hogwarts Champions in the Triwizard Tournaments.

The Haunted Airman: After Harry Potter Robert Pattinson took on a much more serious role in The Haunted Airman where he played an injured RAF pilot named Toby Jugg who confined to a wheelchair who is committed to an eerie hospital where he starts to lose his mind.

The Bad Mothers Handbook: After The Haunted Airman Robert went on to star in The Bad Mothers Handbook a made for TV movie. He plays the role of Daniel who must help his highschool crush deal with her pregnancy by another. It is a 9 month transition as his character learns to cope with love, strong women and family.

Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix: After doing two smaller films Robert Pattinson returned to the franchise that first gave him his big break. He reprised his role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix.

The Summer House: Robert Pattinson starred in this short film about love and love lost. In the short film  he plays 18 year old Richard who breaks up with his girlfriend to persue another girl only to find his heart remains with the girl he broke up with. He sets out to win her back.

How To Be: This time Robert Pattinson took on indie comedy in the form of How to Be where he plays the character Art who is having a bit of a break down. He convinces a self help guru to come and become his personal self help guru to help him get his life together.

Little Ashes: In Little Ashes Robert Pattinson plays an 18 year old Salvador Dali the famed painter. The film focuses on Salvador as a youth and the controverial relationships he pursued.

Twilight / New Moon: After filming two back to back indie film productions Robert Pattinson really hit the radar with Twilight which was followed up by New Moon where he plays the vampire Edward. As if any of you really needed me to tell you this! Twilight and Twilight New Moon not only made Summit Entertainment a small fortune it also put Robert Pattinson on the map as the new heart throb for teen girls everywhere.

Remember Me: After doing back to back Twilight Films Robert Pattinson did Remember Me a romantic drama about a young man named Tyler ( played by Robert ) who finds love unexpectedly while trying to deal with family tragedy. Pierce Brosnan co-starred as his father.

In upcoming projects Robert Pattinson is staying true to form with two more major films in the works namely Twilight Eclipse about to hit theaters and two more Twilight films in the form of a two part Breaking Dawn Movie. He also stars in Bel Ami where he plays a young man who manipulates women to his own advantage and Water For Elephants where he plays a young vet who joins the circus after his family is killed. The most interesting upcoming role he has from my perspectics is Unbound Captives where he plays a frontiersman who rescues a widow played by Rachel Weisz and must help her find her kidnapped children.

Robert Pattinson is already a very rich young star and it appears with his half dozen projects in the works he will continue to focus on not just blockbuster films but indie films that gave him his break.

Robert Pattison: Bel Ami is about a character called Georges Duroy who is a broke ex soldier in Paris in 1890. He has no drive. He’s just jealous of everything. He’s completely talentless. The only thing he does is, by accident he finds this guy in the army with a brothel and this other guy want’s to impress him so he gives him money and buys him a round and it ends up being like he’s invited the Devil into his house. He seduces his wife. He seduces all his wife’s friends. Every single influential woman he can get, he has an affair with and it ends up screwing over the entire society.

Robert Pattison: Water for Elephants is a story about a guy in 1931 whose parents both die in a car crash when he’s at Cornell University studying veterinarian science. He jumps on a train out of desperation to find something else and it ends up being this circus train. He ends up falling in love with the star attraction who’s also the wife of the ring master and all the chaos that ensues after that.

Robert Pattison: Unbound Captives: It’s a Western. It’s a sort of romantic, drama, western. My character is the son of Rachel Weisz. He get’s kidnapped by Comanches when he’s four and is raised by them. And my mother spends like 15 years or something trying to find me and when she finds me and I come back I can’t speak English anymore. I don’t recognize her and she doesn’t recognize me and I have kind of massive ADD in it as well.

Robert pattinson: I found out about Breaking Dawn being two films when the press release came out (laughs). Bill Condon, I met briefly a few weeks ago kind of by accident just before the MTV Awards in a bar. He seemed great. He seemed like a really, really nice guy. I haven’t talked to him in detail about anything but Gods and Monsters, that was an amazing movie. I think it’s going to be good. I don’t even know where we’re going to shoot it yet or anything.
