AMFAR Cinema Against AIDS Charity Auction at the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, Antibes, France – 21 May 2009
All the stars currently in Cannes for the illustrious film festival dolled up to the max for amFAR’s Cinema Against AIDS charity event to help raise money with a celebrity auction.
The gala’s main event was a live auction, co-hosted by Hollywood heavyweight producer Harvey Weinstein: items bid for included the autographed saxophone played by former US President Bill Clinton on a TV show when he was in the White House (fetching 130,000 euros), a kiss from ‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson (20,000 euro per peck) and a unique Steven Meisel photograph of Madonna from the Louis Vuitton fashion campaign (30,000 euros).
Also up for sale were a unique Fiat 500 car, custom-designed by Renzo Rosso of Diesel, a tennis lesson with former sports star Monica Seles and a Milan Fashion Week package, including access to the Missoni and Dolce & Gabbana shows.
Founded in 1985, amFAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, is dedicated to ending the global epidemic and last year’s amfAR auction raised $7million.
