‘The Rover’ Still & BTS Picture Now in UHQ + SAFC Article With Comments From Producer Liz Watts   Leave a comment

Article from the South Australian Film Corporation with comments from The Rover’s producer Liz Watts and an update about the possible release schedule.

The small towns and semi-desert landscape of South Australia’s outback will feature on the big screen as the buzz surrounding Australian feature film The Rover, starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, continues to grow.

The Rover, written and directed by David Michôd and produced by Liz Watts, David Linde, and David Michôd through Porchlight Films, in association with Lava Bear Films LLC, has recently completed its seven weeks of principal photography in South Australia, utilising the unique desert landscape SA offers to provide the perfect backdrop for the film’s storyline.

Set in the Australian desert in ‘a dangerous and damaged near future’, The Rover tells the story of Eric (Pearce) who has left everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him when a gang of desperate criminals steals his last possession. Eric sets off on a ruthless mission to track them down, forced along the way to enlist the help of Rey (Pattinson), the naïve and injured junior member of the gang who was left behind in the chaos of the gang’s most recent robbery.SAFC CEO Richard Harris said “The SAFC was very excited to get behind The Rover, David Michôd’s first film since his critically acclaimed, box office smash, Animal Kingdom. It is the latest example of a project that has chosen to use South Australia’s unique outback locations to dramatic effect.”

How do you assess the creative power of the teen star Robert Pattinson, with whom you will work soon?
He’s a really intelligent person. Writes well. Knows exactly what he’s doing. He also knows that he has to escape the short-lived teen star phase.

Translation

Interview with Robert Pattinson “Cosmopolis”

I was impressed with the script that David wrote. “The reason why I wanted to take this part is that I really would like to work with David Cronenberg. I knew he would be very creative, and that it would be a real experience. And I was appealed by the writing of the script, like a kind of long poem. And a mysterious poem too. (omit) But this time it was completely different, the further I read, the less I could figure out where it was leading and the more I wanted to be a part of it.”
“I couldn’t imagine myself in the role at all. The first time I spoke to David, it is exactly what I told him, that I didn’t visualize anything, and he thought it was a good thing. (omit) Even during the first week of shooting, we were all still wondering what the film would look like once finished. It was fascinating, I felt like the film was fashioning itself.”
“David doesn’t like rehearsals. We didn’t talk much about the film before the shooting. And I only met the other actors on set, during production, I discovered them as they appeared, literally, on Eric Packer’s limousine, And it was quite pleasant.”
It is uneasy to play a character that dose not follow a predictable path without clear vision. But the truth is that this character is changing. It dose not matter if it ends badly nor the change is different from an ordinary character we usually see. David, however, has complete control. It was the first time for me to work with a director who took complete control over his own movie. He completely grasps any situations and has clear ideas what he wants in any stages. Eventually, under the circumstances, I could have some confidence and relax.

Eric Maddox talks about Mission: Blacklist and Robert Pattinson   5 comments

Eric Maddox talks about the movie Mission: Blacklist, casting & meeting Rob and what he might wear in the movie

ROBERICMADDOX Eric Maddox – interrogator, author and OU alumnus explained the process of finding and capturing Saddam Hussein and detailed the dilemmas he faced to about 300 people in Oklahoma Memorial Union’s Molly Shi Boren Ballroom.
This same story is encapsulated in his book, “Mission: Blacklist #1,” on which a movie will be based starring Robert Pattinson, who will play Maddox.

“Somebody wants to make a movie about my story – it’s very exciting,” Maddox said.

Maddox said he has already met and gotten to know Pattinson.

“He’s a great guy,” Maddox said. “When they brought his name up to me, I had never heard of him before. I don’t believe in vampire movies and stories. I just didn’t know who he was.”

Maddox said he wore a single blue shirt for months in his search for Hussein, with no other changes of clothes. The shirt has a bigmouth bass embossed on it, Velcro pockets and bloodstains.

“I’ve still got it [the shirt.] I think Rob is gonna wear it in the movie,” Maddox said.

Maddox had to wait five years to tell his story and write the book due to the U.S. government preferring to keep it classified, he said.

“Since then, the United States government wanted me to endorse the movie, and wanted me to say who I am and what I do,” he said.
