The Hollywood Film Awards today announced additional stars scheduled to appear at the inaugural broadcast of The Hollywood Film Awards live from the Hollywood Palladium, Friday, November 14, 2014 (8:00-10:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. Host Queen Latifah will welcome Steve Carell, Johnny Depp, Laura Dern, Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lopez,Mike Myers, Robert Pattinson, Eddie Redmayne, Chris Rock and Hilary Swank. They join previously announced guests Amy Adams, Gerard Butler, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Jonah Hill, Keira Knightley,Michael Keaton, Julianne Moore, Jack O’Connell,Chris Pratt, Kristen Stewart, Channing Tatum, Jean-Marc Vallée, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley. The Hollywood Film Awards, the official launch of the awards season™, has recognized excellence in the art of cinema and filmmaking for 17 years, honoring some of the world’s biggest stars.

Yes, welcome the Cli Fi Movie Awards, dubbed “The Cliffies.” The online event has been set up as an annual awards program, and unusual for film awards, the entire event is happening online only. Over the years, as things progress, the awards program may move to a physical address in Hollywood with stage hosts and an invited audience.
For now it’s an online show – live now here – and you won’t be surprised to learn that social media is carrying the day, as fans of actors like Robert Pattinson (who won a Cliffie for his role as Rey in the Australian clifi movie “The Rover”) are tweeting and tumblring the news to their hearts’ desire worldwide!
What is this niche awards program all about? It’s two things: It’s a real awards show, and now part of the annual awards season in North America and Europe as everyone gears up for the Oscars telecast in February. And secondly, The program is a conciousness-raising tool to help raise awareness in Hollywood and in the general public about the power of cinema to influence world leaders on vital issues relating to climate change and man-made global warming.
In addition to recognizing current movies each year that have a strong climate theme, the Cliffies also intend to push Hollywood movers and shakers to greenlight more climate-themed movies as time goes by. Because time is running out.
Behind the Scenes on my shoot with Robert Pattinson last Spring. There was lots of creative talk and inspiration going around before the shoot started and everyone especially Rob had to get their hands a little dirty. Tomorrow I’ll post the images as a reminder of how it all turned out!!
Ever since Twilight, Robert Pattinson has been doing his best to shed his Edward Cullen persona by taking on unique and complicated roles. The actor’s latest effort is Maps to the Stars, which sees him re-teaming with director David Cronenberg after the moderately successful Cosmopolis. Like in that film, Pattinson once again plays a limo driver here, except this time, he takes on more of a supporting role.
Maps to the Stars is a biting satire that focuses on Hollywood and the cult of celebrity. It’s a sharp, comic look at the entertainment industry and boasts several great performances and clever writing. Though not for everyone, I enjoyed the film quite a bit and am happy to see that it’s been receiving mostly positive reviews thus far.
A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to sit down for an exclusive interview with Pattinson while he was in Toronto promoting Maps to the Stars. Excited to talk about his newest film, he discussed with me why he enjoys working with Cronenberg, what caused his nervous breakdown on set, his thoughts on the cult of celebrity and much more.
