Cosmopolis Delano’s must-see movie of 2012   2 comments

From Delano:

See new Cronenberg

It is not often that a film ranks so highly in our listings, but David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” has been widely touted as the must-see movie of 2012.

With Robert Pattinson in the lead role, it also looks likely to score the Canadian master his biggest ever box office hit. Whether the fans of Pattinson who will flock to see their screen idol’s new film will be able to stomach Cronenberg’s very realistic violence and sex after all the pre-teen fluff of the Twilight films remains to be seen.

Certainly the teaser trailer shows glimpses of the sort of graphic brutality Cronenberg delivered inA History of Violence and Eastern Promises (both starring the thinking woman’s Pattinson, Viggo Mortensen).

Cosmopolis is based on Don DeLillo’s novel about the day in the life of billionaire Eric Packer (Pattinson). Most of that day is spent in his chauffeur-driven limo, but it is nevertheless a day brimful of incident, hedonism and menace–for this is a book and film that, even in its most wilfully obscure moments, speaks volumes about contemporary life and where society is headed.
