From Variety
Just days before “Cosmopolis” opens in limited release, star Robert Pattinson has joined the cast of Werner Herzog’s indie “Queen of the Desert,” which will star Naomi Watts as English writer Gertrude Bell.
Pic will chronicle Bell’s life as a writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political attache for the British Empire. One of the first women to graduate from Oxford at the turn of the 20th century, she traveled through the Middle East, defining the borders of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Pattinson is attached to play T.E. Lawrence, a British Army officer whose writing earned him international fame as Lawrence of Arabia, on whom David Lean’s classic 1962 epic is based. Lawrence was a good friend to Bell over the years, as the duo helped establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq.
Cassian Elwes and Nick Raslan (Herzog’s “Rescue Dawn”) are producing the pic, which is aiming to start production in late fall.
Outside of the “Twilight” franchise that catapulted him to fame, Pattinson has avoided blockbusters to work on challenging indie projects with acclaimed directors. After wrapping Francis Lawrence’s adaptation of “Water for Elephants” and the lusty period pic “Bel Ami,” Pattinson chose to work with David Cronenberg on “Cosmopolis,” which opens Friday. Thesp is set to star opposite Guy Pearce in David Michod’s Aussie drama “The Rover,” as well as the indie thriller “Mission: Blacklist,” which chronicles the hunt for Saddam Hussein.
Pattinson is repped by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, Curtis Brown Group and attorney Robert Offer.

Let me ask you…..How are you connected?
Have you Connected through
Friendship?
Fundraising?
Blogging?
Have you re-connected with your hopes and Dreams?
Have you felt inspired to do something you have only dreamed about?
Have you met new people, new friends?
Have you had adventures?
We believe a lot of really wonderful positive things are going on out there…and we believe, for whatever reason, Rob has been a big connection to all of it. And I think it would be great if he knew about it.
So here is the idea… anyone can participate… and what you do is up to you!
Everyone has done scrap booking right? Let’s do a book, a 12×12 book of pages designed by YOU.
Create one scrapbook page showing the connections you feel have been brought about because of your connection to Rob.
You can do one page or more than one if you wish…design it to show your connections.. use pictures from adventures.. or of him.. of what you have been inspired to do. Decorate the page anyway you wish… there really aren’t any rules… it’s about YOU and ROB and the connection.
When you are done with the page… you can mail it to us. We will put them all together in a book Titled “Connections”. The book will be given to him. We will also scan each page and post an electronic book as well so we can all share in the connections we have all made.
Which brings us to another options.. if you feel like you are better with an electronic page rather then a scrapbook page.. go for it.. email it to us. We will do an electronic presentation as well.
This is really just a fun project that we believe Rob will enjoy for years to come. Everyone says, at one time or another in their lives.. “I want to make a change, I want to make an impact, I want to be remembered”.. or any other variation of that sentiment…this is our chance to create something to show a special person that he has made a difference, he has made an impact, he has… connected.
So, if you are interested… contact us by email and we will send you the address to send your completed pages to me. You can also just email us your electronic formatted page as well if that is the presentation you choose. If you don’t want your page scanned for everyone to see.. just let us know.. and we won’t include it in the online presentation. We are going to leave this project opened until December 31, 2010. That’s just under 6 months.
Get to work! Come on.. what are you waiting for?
Let’s show that we really are all connected!
