Paps: The Fans Fight Back “He Doesn’t Want This, Neither Do We”

We’re making this post a sticky for the week. It will always be the top post even if we make new posts so scroll down.
Due to recent paps pics of Rob that came out today and invasive ones taken before (chasing Rob while he’s driving, taking pictures of him from rooftops), the fans are standing up and fighting back. We want the paps to know that we don’t want to see pics like these, so stop taking them. Stop invading his private life. Enough is enough. Because no person deserves this, celebrity our not. There are limits and you have gone too far. We know pap pics are inevitable, what we are protesting against are the particularly invasive ones mentioned above. He doesn’t want this, neither do we!
Here’s our way of fighting back, in less than 48 hours we were able to get 1,200 pics of fans posing with their arms over their face to show their protest. This is our way of saying leave him alone. We’re hoping this message gets across to the paps. Fans from all over the world sent in pics and translated quotes.
We, as site owners, don’t want to post these pics either. A huge group of fans and sites came together for this post. This is a collaborative effort between Thinking of Rob, Pattinson Online, EmsCharityKiss (who gave us the brillant idea) , In My Dreams, Eyes of Amber, Random Acts of Rob, Rob My World, Why not? Twilight, Rpattz and Me, Gossip Dance , Robmusement, Twilight Ladies , Edward-Cullen.Net and 100 other sites that you can find at the bottom.
We think it’s wrong that the paps are hounding Rob like this and we want them to know.

I guess the taking pictures part is part of their job but the car chasing and the vile things they call out to them and the way they get the photos like that guy lying on the floor to take a pic of robs face! disgusting! and even after princess diana’s death with the car chasing they still haven’t stopped that! It only takes one person to make all the difference. Thank you ToR and the many followers of your site. No human being should ever be subjected to such vulger, filthy, disgusting behavior constantly exhibited by the paparazzi. If there was a way to rid our society of such garbage and do away with the mere existence of trash media when it comes to celebrities there would be no need for such invasive and intrusive photos.
Of course we all know the driving force behind this frenzy is money. The scum of the earth papps are trying to see who can be the top dog of sleaze and capture the “celeb of the moment” in a moment of vulnerability or embarrassment. Although, there are a huge percentage of true fans that just want the best for Rob and to see him enjoy his success while at the same time live the normal private life he is entitled to, there are those in our society that thrive off of what the papps are selling. As wrong as it seems the fact remains the same, dirt sells. I am hoping and praying that this is the beginning of a huge tidalwave of change. With the information superhighway fans/non-fans are able to send out locations of where certain celebs are. And people are also waiting with baited breath to see or hear anything they can on their celeb of interest. Something needs to happen before we end up with another Princess Diana story in the headlines. There needs to be a law keeping the papps a safe distance from any celebs, especially while in a vehicle. I am a true fan of Rob’s and don’t ever want to see anything like this happen to him again. He deserves to have a life outside the fishbowl. Enough is enough! A significant line has been drawn and the papps need to know that they can no longer be free to cross it. Have you no shame? Can you sleep at night? Did you not learn the meaning of the word respect when you were five? Does your mother know what you have become? God help you all papps, because He IS watching!

I wholeheartedly hope that Rob hears about this site, looks at it, and knows that we are on his side. I also wish that there could be better laws against the paparazzi. World wide Anti-Paparazzi Law’s should be protecting these people and their loved ones’ lives from total invasion of privacy. Invasion of privacy that causes suffering, physical injury, not to mention endangering the lives of the celebrities and anyone close to them.
The big win will be when many more of us stop supporting those media outlets that serve us our favorite celebrities, and their personal lives, “À la carte”. I don’t mind waiting for the photo shoot and interviews.

LMHO…just thought of the fact that those photographers, that are acting so crazy, remind me of some the people I heard about on Black Friday. You know the ones. I just want to know how the hell you know what Rob wants?
I mean, I love him BUT I don’t run a freaking blog that may or may not use paparazzi pics and worship his freaking toenails.
I’m in the same boat (obsessive & all that), trust. BUT if WE weren’t obsessed with him, no one would take his picture. I have one person in love with me. He takes my picture.
It’s all a big effed up world BUT I’m not sure that this is the way of getting shit changed. Online petitions do no good. Call your congressman if you really want to do something.
Dear, how in the world could he want this? I’m not even sure what kind of publicity these little-nothing pics with his “no name” friends would do. Where would they sell it to or anything? These pics are really nothing, boring, and Rob always looks the same. I don’t understand them getting a dime out of any of these kinds of pics. I love Rob too, but I’m NEVER aching to see daily pics of him… I really don’t care, and if I know he’s happy because he doesn’t get his pic taken when he goes out, then even the better. Even if I did want to see pics, I certainly wouldn’t at his expense like that.
I agree that I wish there wasn’t such a craze and obsession around him, because obviously the demand would be less. This is something that cannot be changed at this point though, but yeah, I wish people would stop using the devil thing that is TWITTER. Even if they do see him, don’t even Tweet that at all, location or not. Papz are not idiots, they know by now who Bobby and Marcus and Sam are, they know Rob goes to their shows, esp in LA (Which I have to give some advice to Rob: try seeing your friends in a DIFFERENT city than that. Random city in the US, like freakin Denver or Houston or something, there’s no papz there, geez.).…… So if it simply gets tweeted, by someone who is trying to be discreet “O, M, G, I saw Rob at a concert/club just now!” THEY WILL FIGURE IT OUT. Goodness.
Anyway, this is an amazing effort, whether or not it does anything, it is still amazing and should be recognized. I will participate.
fangbanger06 : as far as ur comment goes, noone is saying not to take pics of rob!!! but take pics when he is in public working — award ceremonies, premieres, press junkets, fan events, etc. but NOT to take pics of what he does in his private life. and a picture never hurt any1, but the way the papz hound him is vile! that pic of rob on hiding his face with his arm and leaning against the wall is just heartbreaking!

In October, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a law limiting paparazzi activities and allowing for imposition of stiff fines on news outlets who purchase paparazzi images or recordings. It takes effect in January.

awesome job everyone!! i saw the pics from this weekend and its so invasive!! the poor guy was cornered up against the bloody wall with his face covered and they were all right behind him filming and taking pics of him the poor guy does not deserve that treatment, no one does, he is owed the right to be able to walk freely around and enjoy his free time as he wishes without the bloody paps on his tail the whole time waiting for him to do something wrong!!! i love seeing pics of rob i am a massive fan but not these types of pics.

Thank you so much for doing this! Hopefully we can get our point across to the paps. There comes a point and time when enough is enough. When I first saw the pics this morning, I was blown away with the closeness of the paps. Especially, the guy laying on the floor trying to get the shot of Rob’s face when he has it covered up. The pics were sad enough to look at until I saw the video and that pushed me over the edge. Nobody deserves this kind of treatment, movie star or not. We all have to remember that he is still a normal person who enjoys going outside and not being stuck in a hotel room. The other day I was actually talking about the drought of new Rob pics, but after seeing these, I will never complain again. This is outrageous. I can’t even imagine what was going through his head at the time that all of this was happening. We heart you Rob and we got your back!

I suggest forwarding this to actual gossip magazines as they are the ones who PAY the paps for the shots. Try and get support from non-gossip publications like respectable newspapers and see if you can garner some interest that way. Love the idea.

Sorry I’m a pessimist. I feel sorry for Rob and I support your effort 100%, but paps probably won’t stop. How about boycotting magazines that use these obnoxious photos stalking Rob? Also, how about outlining Rob fans etiquettes, such as not chasing him down the street or approaching him when he’s spotted on the street, giving him some personal space? Getting his signatures or photos only from designated venues, not intruding his personal life, would give him some breathing space I think.
I know and that needs to be put out there as well.

A brilliant wake-up call for us all. Deeply moved to see so many fans reject the fiendish photographers. Don’t buy magazines who run these intrusive photos. Write the magazines to let them know this. I cannot imagine…how the hell anyone, let alone Rob Pattinson could live like this. With assholes shoving a camera in your face, everywhere you go! Following your every move. It’s a complete and utter invasion of the right to privacy…you could not offer me anything, ANYTHING, in this day and age, to be in the public eye, and it is a shame. Because the general public, the fans, and celebrities I think enjoy being able to interact. It is nice to be appreciated, have someone tell you they appreciate you, love your work, chat, sign as autograph, and take a ‘friendly’ fan photo.
But it is crap like this? No…no, just NO! All it does, is force Rob, or any celebrity to take extra measures of security (which he has already had to do), so they can have some sibilance of normalcy, and piece of mind. But it also ends up making them completely unapproachable by normal fans. But, more so, it is ethically wrong!
Everyone, EVERYONE, is entitled to go out for a walk, to sunbathe, to shop, to…go to a friend’s show, without being harassed. Did we learn nothing, when Princess Diana was killed?! Where the hell, are the anti-harassment laws?
My heart truly, truly aches for his plight.

Did the world learn nothing when Princess Diana was killed? That was the first time I realized how dangerous and intrusive the paps were and thought for sure that something would be done about it. What is being done about it? I felt so bad seeing those pictures that were posted all over from this weekend. Rob looked totally helpless and at their mercy. It made me sick.

I guess this is a noble gesture but I’m not sure how much good it will do. I had a look at the photos and video and this has happened on multiple occasions and will happen again. This is my take on it.
Rob was alll hobo-ed out in those pics. On top of that, I bet he’d had a few beers and was gargled. Of course he was probably a bit hammered, out on the town with his boys. He knew he would be looking dead rough so covered his face. Or else, if he had shown his face, he knew the photos would have been tagged like “Rob – Twilight Saga drives him to drink – Intervention by pals at concert” or something like that. Seriously. Americans don’t seem to understand the concept of going out on the piss. Of course, the paps were out of order at the hotel.
And I bet we’ll see some photos of Taylor now, frantically covering his face and hiding. Desperate for the same kind of attention and reaction that Rob has just gotten. But, whereas Rob DOESN’T want the attention, Taylor really, really does.
Are you a Pap yourself? Or do you write news articles that require the photo’s. Something suspicious about your words and the way you write. It’s a bit too articulate and defensive.
Thank you for the compliment on my writing. I don’t write articles but would love to. I practise writing a lot and post randomly all over the internet on diverse topics, but I have a long way to go. I’m not a pap, nor am I a regular Rob/Twilight fan, though I did see New Moon. I am fascinated with aspects of this culture.
Did I say something wrong? Perhaps I should clarify. I didn’t mean to offend, it was an observation. A positive one, I thought.
I think this endeavour is a positive thing, but I’m afraid it won’t have much effect. The paps will still harrass celebrities, particularly Rob and any major actor in the Twilight Saga.
It’s well known that Rob enjoys a drink. I think he may have been purposefully hiding his face because he looked a bit rougher than usual on this particular occasion. Or perhaps he just didn’t want to show his face, and that was that. Who would blame him, but this will happen to him in LA. Also, the US media tend to blow Rob’s drinking out of proportion. They have done before. We consider it quite normal across the pond. Anyway, I think this combination of factors is what made these photos look particularly bad and they caught the attention of the fans. This reaction could have been elicited on any given night up til now.
And the Taylor comment was probably just a throwaway one. But I do think that he seeks the fame and noteriety that Rob currently has.
I should add that it’s admirable that this many people came together and voiced their feelings on this subject. The photos make for a very strong statement. Considering the other recent incidents between celebrities and paparazzi, this effort is very timely. Actually, it’s probably long overdue. I think Rob will appreciate it.

Perhaps someone has already mentioned this, but as nice as this gesture is, it’s not going to do squat to stop the paps. It’s a money game. The only way the paps will stop is when people STOP BUYING THE TABLOIDS. Even the glossy mags, like People, Us, etc. The people keep buying them so the paps are going to continue clicking away.
Seriously, it’s great to drool over the guy, but why not respect him for his talent and not his body or hair or whatever. All these young girls/women do is cut his picture out of magazines, or find them on the internet…yes, that means boycotting TMZ and Perez Hilton as well…and plaster them all over their rooms, websites, and so on.
It’s the FANS that are creating this hysteria. RELAX!!! He’s just a guy!!! Give him some respect!!!
To sum up, STOP BUYING/DOWNLOADING THE TABLOID CRAP THAT IS OUT THERE and eventually the paps won’t have anyone to sell to.
On a side note, just because he’s in the entertainment field gives NO ONE the right to get in his face in his private time. It’s a job. And when he goes to red carpet events and other things that he’s paid to do or job related, then fair game and he knows this.
Yes, this is true. An all-out boycott of ALL tabloid magazines and gossip websites is the only way to stop the demand for photos of these actors. Demand fuels supply. The problem is fan generated, even though none would have consciously put their favourite Twilight actor in this position. The extent of the problem could not have been foreseen.
Luckily, magazines that would never have published articles about teen idols or put them on their covers are now doing so in droves. Vogue, Rolling Stone etc. They do this just to capture the Twilight audience, who they know will buy any magazine when Rob/Kristen/Taylor appears on or between the covers. There are ample such publications that contain proper photoshoots of the actors so it should be easy to limit your ‘fix’ to these and quit the disreputable ones. This aim is key and should be at the forefront of this campaign. Every caring fan should abide by it.

Couldn’t agree more Ashlee! I mean it’s about doing something, anything, right? I don’t think any of us supporters are naive enough to believe that this will stop the paps dead on their tracks. Of course it’s a business and an incredibly profitable one at that.
It’s about showing the Actors that we are not for it, so they get some comfort in that knowledge that they are not alone.
But if enough of us get together, we can definitely raise awareness and put a long overdue issue on the table! Like you say, it’s dangerous, lives have been lost at this “game”.

I’m glad that this has gotten some attention again. I remember all too well when everyone was contrite enough to boycott the trash magazines (The Enquirer, Star, to name a couple) after the press chased Princess Diana to her death. A couple months later, people were over it, and magazines kept printing the horrible pictures. Is Robert Pattinson making a living from being a public figure? Absolutely. Is he obligated to pose for pictures and grant interviews, maybe wave and chat with a fan or two? Surely. However, when I see a picture of someone walking with their head down, while there are anywhere between one to five photographers around them, following them, that is just asinine. It’s a complete, disgusting invasion of personal space. The average person in America, walking down the street, would swing around and throttle anybody who was following them less than a foot behind them, so why do we think that this harassment is okay just because their jobs are to entertain? They are living, breathing people with feelings, who give a damn when the press shout insults at them just for a reaction, oh and for the record? When girls grab and pull at said stars, it isn’t any less invasive and punch-worthy assinine, but we know (most) celebrities will not do so, because too many people would care if they did retaliate, whereas the rest of us have the benefit of anonymity.
All in all, I am happy to put my two cents in. Good luck to Robert, and all the others in his shoes.

I love this, such a great thing. We need to get the paps the hell away from him, they need to learn to back off before they kill him. 110% agree with everything on here, ive stopped buying magazines because they are all filled with lies about Rob. Rob should be able to do whatever he likes without the papz swarming him 24/7.

I don’t think it’s realistic to think that we can boycott the rags and they’ll quit buying pictures. Too many people out there that don’t even go online like we do and who buy the stuff religiously. Or people who just want to know what’s happening with their favorite star. I know I like keeping up with what’s happening with the Robster and I’ll look at pics if they’re posted. It’s the nature of the game and they all know it.
It’s the intrusive nature of the pics that I’m more concerned with. The paps are getting more and more out of control especially with Rob. They seem to feel that there is no law they have to follow, no personal space observed and no talk too vile to spew at him. When they start chasing you down the street and cause or almost cause you to have an accident we’re venturing into Princess Di territory and that’s the last thing anybody wants. If there are no laws limiting the distance the paps can get to star there should be. If there are no laws that say someone can’t just walk up to someone and start trash talking to their hearts content, there should be. And if there is nothing in the law books that says it’s illegal to chase someone in a car and follow them to their house, there should be. I’d like to see the stars calling to police everytime the paps descend. Don’t think that’ll happen.
I’ve been wracking my brain trying to think of something that would work. And mostly it boils down to the people that buy the pics. No money, no incentive to act like an ass. So if we can’t stop it altogether maybe if there is an incident that is pretty disgusting like the other night we could ban together and email the sites or site that is posting the pics or that bought it in the first place. Not leave comments in the comment section. That’s what the want, hit
