David Michôd talks about Robert Pattinson and ‘The Rover’ at Flickerfest 1 comment
David Michôd was at Flickerfest this morning (Jan 17th) in Sydney and talked a bit about Rob and ‘The Rover’.
@Roaford was there and here’s a compilation of her tweets about what Michôd said about the movie.
They didn’t talk about The Rover much but what David did say was it’s finished. He completed it a month and a half ago, but the teaser isn’t ready yet.
He cast Rob cause he could see the hunger and determination he has towards the career he ultimately wants.
David said Rob is one of the smartest guys he’s worked with said he just a fun guy to be around.
In The Rover, Scoot and Rob’s characters are from Texas so they’ll both have Texan accents. David said Rob was worried about but said he nailed it.
David said he set out to make a more commercial movie after Animal Kingdom but it ended up being darker.
David said Rob and Guy are phenomenal in The Rover and it’s the best work they’ve ever done.
David told us a story of how he saw Rob walking up the street by himself in Corn. Rob told David that it was the most magical experience to be able to do that.

With his buzz cut, bloodied face and bad teeth, Robert Pattinson’s latest style is a far cry from his Twilight character Edward Cullen.
The change is for new Australian film The Rover, which Pattinson, 26, is filming in South Australia. “He’s very smart,” director David Michôd told WHO, adding that it’s a long way from Hollywood. “It’s been one of the beaut experiences – to roam around and breath fresh air, but the flies are driving him crazy.”

Here’s a new picture from ‘The Rover’ set + Rob and David Michôd talk to The Sunday Morning Herald, The Daily Telegraph & Courier Mail
From The Sunday Morning Herald
‘It’s very odd,” Robert Pattinson says. ”There’s something strange and disturbing about the whole relationship.”
The Twilight actor is talking about the two characters at the heart of his new film, The Rover, which finished shooting on Saturday in outback South Australia.
He plays a young man, Rey, caught up in an uneasy, dangerous alliance with a stranger, Eric (Guy Pearce), in a not-too-distant future.
The Rover is the much-anticipated new film from David Michod, the writer-director of Animal Kingdom. The title refers to Pearce’s character: damaged, solitary, utterly without hope.

#23 – The Rover
Synopsis: A dirty and dangerous near-future western set in the Australian desert.
Why We’re Looking Forward To It: The last time Guy Pearce starred in a Australian western we got John Hillcoat‘s fantastic The Proposition. This time around, we’ve got Animal Kingdomdirector David Michod, Robert Pattinson (proving his talent in David Cronenberg‘sCosmopolis), the underappreciated Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly, Argo, Monsters) and a near-future setting — it’s safe to say we’re quite excited. With a shoot gearing up in a few months, we hope this one will make it to theaters before the year’s end. – Jordan R.
