Fragances often trigger memories. Do you have memories related to scents?
I remember my dad wearing Brut de Farbegé. He still has it, and it reminds me of my early school days. So strange it is so ingrained in me; I can still imagine exactly what it smelled like. Later when I was 12 and started talking to girls, I thought wearing perfume was the cool thing to do. I remember being on holiday in Portugal and watching teenagers going into bars. As I believed that splashing cologne would convince everyone I was an adult, I sure did: that and hair gel were my best friends that summer.

Are there landscapes or cities you associate with certain scents?
My dad comes from Yorkshire where the moors have miles of heather, and the smell of it is just incredible.

Do you have a favorite scent?
I like the smell of people! It is really odd and a total pherormone thing, but you can often tell someone’s nature by their smell. We hang out with people because they smell good to us on an unconscious level.

Now that you’re 27, is wearing fragance more feel-good gesture or a seduction move?
It still seems like a very adult thing to do. And if you go out with some fragance on, you are going out for a reason…

What woman could be wearing Dior Homme, in your eyes?
A free spirit. A woman of her own mind, refusing to smell “pretty” or do what’s expected of her. And clearly a woman who is not confused about her idea of femininity.

How sweet is the smell of success?
Being an actor is a weird thing and one’s idea of success, strangely enough, changes over the years. But there is the “sweet” side of success: I don’t have to worry and work just for money, for a few years at least. I have an enourmous amount of respect for films, so I’m trying to use whatever time, energy and influence I have to make interesting choices that no one else is making. I just said I was “trying” but it’s funny you know: I do not really feel like I have been successful yet. There is something about Dior that is very close to my present state of mind: it is almost aggessively independent, and that is what I’m trying to do with everything at that stage of my life.

You never seem to relax, but when you do, what’s your favorite…
Spot to relax?
 In the English countryside.
Piece of literature? Anything by Martin Amis.
Piece of music, musician or band? Probably Van Morrison.
Moment of the day? That changes depending on what I did the day before.
Pastime? I do not really have any. But it’s probably something to do with music.
Animal to be around? My two dogs.
Word to hear? Yes.

With his buzz cut, bloodied face and bad teeth, Robert Pattinson’s latest style is a far cry from his Twilight character Edward Cullen.

The change is for new Australian film The Rover, which Pattinson, 26, is filming in South Australia. “He’s very smart,” director David Michôd told WHO, adding that it’s a long way from Hollywood. “It’s been one of the beaut experiences – to roam around and breath fresh air, but the flies are driving him crazy.”

Sarah Gadon talks about Robert Pattinson with Real Style Magazine   1 comment

Transcript of the part where she mentions Rob

If Sarah’s critically acclaimed role as the wife of Fassbender’s Carl Jung got the industry’s attention, her second Cronenberg role as Robert Pattinson’s wife in Cosmopolis cemented her rising star status. Not only did a second collaboration with Cronenberg mean she’d joined the ranks of the director’s Jeremy Irons and Vincent Cassel, she became the focus of the Twihard sets’ curiousity when she got close to Pattinson on screen.

“I kept mt distance, knowing that there might be backlash,” says Sarah of working opposite Pattinson whose Twilight fan-base is comparable to Beatle mania or Bieber Fever. “Caitlin, David’s daughter, received more backlash because she was tweeting a lot of photographs from the set, and people were speculationg about their relationship and proximity. I think too that I kept such a distance that they thought, ‘We’re not going to find anything with this one! We’ll pin it all on that one!’ It’s terrible that that happens too. It’s terrible for him because I take my work seriously, obviously, and so does he. It’s not like you would ever compromise the integrity of your work by doing something… at least I never would. I’m boring that way.”

(…)

Next up in Sarah’s non-traditional career is a role in Oscar-nominated French Canadian director Dennis Villeneuve’s first English-language film, An Enemy, opposite to Jake Gyllenhaal, Mélanie Laurent, and Isabella Rossellini. The film tells a story of a man, played by Jake, who leaves his mistress to fall back in love with his wife, played by Sarah. Having Jake Gyllenhaal as her third major on-screen husband after Fassbender and Pattinson isn’t so bad, I joke.

“I only accept rich, famous actors as my husbands,” laughs Sarah

Although cozying up to Fassbender, Pattinson and Gyllenhaal would definitely be a perk to most people, their heartthrob statuses seem irrelevant to Sarah. In fact, she seems more excited to her co-stars to join her in the art-house realm than anything else. When I suggest that Pattinson’s work with Cronenberg has helped change the path of his career from teen heartthrob to bonafide actor, Sarah agrees. “Yes,” she says with a smile. “Now he’s going to work with Werner Herzog.”

Cosmopolis Screen
Translation :
Cronenberg:There are actors who wishes to stay on the safe side and do rather conservative movies, but if you are a serious actor you want to try the edgy side. In this movie you will find Rob standing at the edge.
Rob:I was almost all the time in the limo all by myself and David stays outside of the car. It was a bit odd at the beginning but you can’t rely on someone else about acting. And David is very sensitive about the actors trying to do; looked like he was looking for a something interesting out of it. I felt very comfortable about it.
Rob:Other casts come and visit the limo and do the uncomfortable act right in front of me siting very comfortable. It was like watching their acting plan in the way, I liked it very much!
