There are some major perks of having famous parents – just ask Ava Phillippe.
The 10-year-old, whose parents are Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, got what countless Twi-Hards can only hope for: A chance to meet Robert Pattinson.
Witherspoon, 34, who’s working with the Twilight heartthrob on Water for Elephants, introduced her daughter to Pattinson, 24, Thursday on the movie’s Piru, Calif., set.
“Ava seemed especially excited to meet him,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE, who also notes that younger brother Deacon, 6, chatted with the British actor.
“The filming with Rob is going really well,” adds an on-set source “and Reese was excited for the kids to meet him.”
Here are some awesome new pics of Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon on the set of Water for Elephants.

Were you poking yourself when “Water for Elephants” was contracted to become a movie, and when some little actors by the names of Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon agreed to be in it?
I have to stop and pause and knock on wood right now. The closer it comes to being real, the more superstitious I get. It’s Hollywood. It can all go poof, still. Things are looking as good as they can.
Are you involved with the project at all?
They’re letting us have the whole family in it as a cameo. I think we’re all going to be on in the midway or something. My kids are really excited about that, and I am, too, because that sounds like so much fun. I asked (the producers), and they said sure. So we’ll be in the background in a restaurant or on the midway and be a fast thing (on screen), but we’ll know where it is and the kids will be excited.
What do the three kids think now about mom’s career? Did the cinema thing raise your stature in their eyes?
No. I think the Robert Pattinson thing raised the stature of my oldest child in the school because all the girls are crazy about him. My 9-year-old asks me every time I get back from a book signing if I wrote a new book. He thinks I write a book a day. He has no concept of what I do.
If you haven’t read the book yet it’s a must read and you can order here on Amazon.

We posted some information a week or so ago that Rob might be joining the cast of Water for the Elephants. Water for Elephants is a great book, if you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend it. You can find it on Amazon here. It would be a great role for Rob. Here’s an article from the New York Times.
Sean Penn, below, and Robert Pattinson, bottom, may be joining Reese Witherspoon in a Fox 2000 film adaptation of Sara Gruen’s best-selling novel “Water for Elephants,” Variety reported. Francis Lawrence (“I Am Legend”) will direct that Depression-era story, to be adapted by Richard LaGravenese (“The Fisher King”), in which a veterinary student drops out of school and takes a job with a traveling circus. Ms. Witherspoon plays the equestrian Marlena, who is married to an animal trainer, most likely to be played by Mr. Penn, according to Variety, though contracts have not been finalized for Mr. Penn or Mr. Pattinson. Production is expected to begin in June.

Twilight Saga franchise star Robert Pattinson has finally found a studio film to sink his teeth into. He’s in talks to star in Water for Elephants, the Richard LaGravanese-scripted adaptation of the Sara Gruen novel that Fox 2000 is putting together with Francis Lawrence directing. Reese Witherspoon is already attached, and the studio is courting Sean Penn to return from a big screen sabbatical by playing the other lead in the Depression-era romantic triangle. The novel was a runaway bestseller, and in keeping with the eclectic output of Fox 2000’s Elizabeth Gabler. Gil Netter, Erwin Stoff and Andrew Tennenbaum are producing.
Pattinson is in talks to play Jacob, a 21 year old who joins a second-rate traveling circus after he’s traumatized by the car crash death of both parents. He left just before he was to take his veterinary medicine exams at an Ivy League school, and finds his place in the circus by caring for the menagerie of mangy animals. He falls in love with Marlena, the show’s star performer (Witherspoon), and that’s courting danger since she’s married to the paranoid schizophrenic animal trainer who runs the show. That is the role that Penn is circling. Deals still have to be made, and putting three pricey stars in a period adult drama is a challenging proposition.
Pattinson, who between Twilight segments starred for Summit in Remember Me, has been cautious about choosing his next job, but the prospect of starring in another well-known literary adaptation, potentially alongside two Oscar winners, seems a strong move. The hope is to get the picture into production around June, before he returns for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
Witherspoon is also in discussions for the 20th Century Fox comedy This Means War. There is no director on that film, but Bradley Cooper is also circling the comedy which Fox production chief Emma Watts has revived after the studio acquired it over 10 years ago as a vehicle for Martin Lawrence. Reese would play a woman who separately meets two men, who happen to be best friends. When they discover they’re pining for the same woman, the title kicks in. Will Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook is lead producer on the film.
Penn, who took a sabbatical for personal reasons, has also resurfaced as a potential Larry Fine in The Three Stooges. While that Farrelly Brothers-directed comedy has Fox strategically positioned as at least co-financier, the picture resides at MGM. It won’t be go into production until ownership of that studio is resolved.
