James Franco talks about Robert Pattinson and ‘Queen of the Desert’   Leave a comment

JamesRob

From MTV:

Another rumored project of Franco’s is director Werner Herzog’s “Queen of the Desert,” which centers around the friendship between T.E. Lawrence and Gertrude Bell, and stars Robert Pattinson and, potentially, Nicole Kidman (after Naomi Watts reportedly dropped out).

I hope. I met with Werner about it. I’ve known Werner for a while,” Franco said. “He’s a huge ‘Spring Breakers’ fan. The talks about that movie really started after he saw ‘Spring Breakers’ and gave me one of the best phone calls ever. He called me up with Harmony and just was raving about Alien. He said, ‘This movie is like the most important movie of the times. When people look back on 2013, they won’t look at Obama’s re-election speech, they will look to ‘Spring Breakers’ to tell us about these times, hundreds of years from now.”

True Francophiles know the actor has had something of a fascination with Robert Pattinson and “The Twilight Saga” for years, but “Queen of the Desert” wouldn’t be his first meeting with the British actor, apparently.

“I actually met Robert through Harmony,” Franco revealed. “Maybe I’ll work with him. It’s supposed to happen maybe later this year. I don’t think I have any scenes with Pattinson in ‘Queen of the Desert.’ Harmony wants to work with him. He’s a nice guy, so I’d be willing.”

*Scans* Romain Gavras talks about Rob – Shooting the Dior commercial:   1 comment

Transcript of the parts where he talks about Rob, you can read his full interview in the scans

Why did you shoot the commercial in black and white?
Robert Pattinson has such an iconic image, that of the dreadfully pale Twilight vampire, a “dark” character living in a world full of colour. By shooting in black and white and cutting his hair shorter than usual, we have produced a modern and yet timeless effect.

(…)

How did you approach Robert Pattinson? Did you know him?
No, he put my name foward. He’s friends with Harmony Korine, who’s also one of my friends. Before you meet him, you imagine all sorts of things associated with huge stars, that he collects swords or walks around stark naked at home, but in fact, he’s very professional, very straightfoward, and very normal. He’s one of the new breed of stars, who’s become famous overnight because of one role in a franchise, and is aware that has two or three years ahead of him to position himself as an genuine actor with real talent. I didn’t actually realise before I went onto the set with him just what it meant to be the type of star who creates a riot everytime he goes anywhere. There were paparazzi on top of the nearby buildings and we had to cover the windows so we could work in peace.

Bill Condon Created a Supercut of Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2   2 comments

In an interview with Collider, director Bill Condon revealed that he created a supercut of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2. Whether it will be released is still to be determined.

Collider: There’s a huge Twilight box-set coming out later this year. Have you done anything for it? Did you contribute anything?

Bill Condon: Well, I think we did so much for the extended edition of [The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1], I think there’s probably extra stuff on [The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2], although not additional scenes, unfortunately, because that movie is so unbelievably visual effects heavy, it would cost a ton of money to actually create the environment for some of those extra scenes. But, I do have a kind of version of those two movies cut into one movie that is not going to be there, but I hope one day might emerge. I think it would be an interesting experience for those who are really into it.

When you say you have a new version, are there a lot of things different, or is it just one cut?

Condon: No, it’s just one cut. There are obviously adjustments you have to make and rearranging some of the stuff. Just making it into one seamless thing, making it feel more like the original novel.

Did you do that while editing [The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1]?

Condon: Yeah, I did it before we shut down the editing room.

This is interesting, I’m surprised that Summit hasn’t come around and said, “Let’s release that as a double feature in select theaters.”

Condon: Right, yeah. It’d be interesting. Maybe that’ll happen.

Robert Pattinson Withdraws from Queen of the Desert?   4 comments

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s recent interview with Queen of the Desert producer, Cassian Elwes, Robert Pattinson and Naomi Watts are no longer attached to the project.

With Naomi Watts and Robert Pattinson dropping out of Werner Herzog’s Gertrude Bell biopic Queen of the Desert, is the project dead?

It’s been in casting hell, but we feel like we are coming out of it now. I think we’re close to making an announcement.

Read the full interview here.

Tweets on the other hand are making every comment uncertain:

RT @cassianelwes: “@leamai3: @cassianelwes Can you confirm If Rob Pattinson dropped out of the Queen Of Desert?” nothing is written in stone
