Poll: If You Could See Robert Pattinson Play Any Role Ever Done Which Would it Be and Why?   90 comments

Okay here’s a poll based on something that I would like to ask Rob but since that’s not possible and it’s never going to happen I’ll thrown the question out to you guys. It’s not like the other polls as you don’t have to pick between options. So here’s my question:

If you could see Rob play a role, any role, in all the movies that have ever been made which would it be and why?

Personally I’d love to see him play the role of Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye.

Can’t wait to read your answers 🙂

  1. I would love see him in a horror movie, like a killer lol
I know it’s really weird, but i think i’ll make a good ”BAD BOY” !!!

  2. A Remake of “Last Tango in Paris”
I want to see Robert play the character of Marlon Brando!
I think he would be perfect!

  3. i always wanted to see him in lord of the rings as “aragon”

  4. I would love to see him in a classic role. He would shine as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (a la Leonard Whiting!).

  5. Uhhhhhh being an Austenite – Either Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice (though I wouldn’t suggest him doing that, as two very good versions has already been made and it’s a tough act to follow) or Captain Wentworth from Persuasion…. Rob in regency clothes makes my girly bits tingly LOL

    • ahahahahahah!!! ahahahahah!! Your girly bits? ROFLMA!!!

Tooo much! I’ll agree with you on both subjects..

      Still laughing.

  6. George Emerson from A Room with a View. Not a lot of dialogue, but that character just exudes sex. Exudes! And it’s a period drama, too. le sigh

  8. The remake of “Dirty Dancing” lol. It wold be great to see him danging. 😀

  9. I have to think about it more but one role I’d love to see him play is Ernest Hemingway in the movie “In Love and War”

  10. I really like see him as Romeo (a modern one, like Leo DiCaprio on Romeo & Juliet)

  12. yes romeo and aragon but let us not forget Edward Scissorhands! picture it! I have on numerous occasions. or now listen and try to visulaize.

    Okay.

there was an animated film made by DreamWorks called ‘The Road to El Dorado’ with the voice talents of kenneth Branaugh and kevin kline…remember? take a look again at the way the artists drew branaughs character. I think they were meant to mirror loosely the images of the actores portraying them but branaugh’s character, Miguel. Bloned, booty chin, eyes are so blue they look like Rob’, hair is exactly the same style as art in how to be, and the color and cut of him is just so, and he’s charming! just like Rob and he plays this little guitar/banjo/sitar thingy he puts together on the spur of the moment as they do in animated flicks. My daughter and I think this every time we watch it. And they are con artists! the best kind of fun there is in a movie with a great looking, interesting actor as Rob. But who to play Tulio’s role? with Rob. Who is a wonderful compliment to his characterization? hmmmmm. ? discuss! 😉

  13. I would really love to see him in Dear John. I think this would be really cool. As the book is so dramatic. I’d love that.

  14. I’d like to see Rob play the role of my RL husband with much gratuitous sex. Nuff said.

    ROTFL!!!!!

  15. Nick Carraway in The Great Gatsby. My favorite character in my favorite book.

  16. I want to see him in a romantic comedy in which he smiles a lot. Can’t think on one in perticular.

  17. Ok being serious now. I was thinking what roll would I really like to see Rob take on. I thought about the books I’ve read, the movies I’ve seen things in the news & that’s when it came to me.

There was a man who passed away from pancreatic cancer who’s name was Randy Pausch. He was computer science professor & when he found out he was ill, he gave a series of inspirational speeches he dubbed The “Last Lecture”. They’re incredible moving. It’s a good swift kick in the pants to get you to live life.

The story is touching, heartfelt, terribly tragic with a great inspirational story that should be herd & Rob would be perfect to play the roll of Randy. It wouldn’t be an easy part but I think Rob has the chops to pull it off.

  19. I would like rob to play kurt cobain….I think he’s perfect for the role…

  20. i think he should be in a action movie like james bond i think he would be a great for that part

  21. It will be awesome if he’ll play a psycho or a detective trying to decode a strange serial murder or something like the movie “Eagle Eye” ..
To get out of the drama and romance genre..Get some action 🙂

  22. I’d love to see him portrait Mr. Darcy in ‘Pride and Prejudice’, because it’s one of my favorite films and character. Though I really love The newer, so maybe not…
Perhaps a sensual role like Roux in ‘Chocolat’.
It’s hard to picture him replacing someone, Haha.
Oh wait! Jack Twist in ‘Brokeback mountain’!!!!!! Hahahaha LMAO

  23. I’d love to see Rob as a character in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie–the one currently filming in Hawaii would be great. I think he would look fabulous in pirate grab and have fun in a role where he did not have total responsibility as the lead. It would also expand his fanbase.

  24. No. In the old one it’s colin firth and in the newer with Keira Knightley it’s Matthew something. Haha I always forget his last name 🙂

  25. If they can write a script for My Friend the Mercenary Rob would make a great journalist caught in a life death situation.

  26. I think Aragorn or Mr Darcy because they are all so dishy parts to play and dishy guys usually play them roles.

  27. First time posting here. Hi all. I always thought he was the image of Michelangelo’s David. There’s one photo, and I forget where it is, but he has the EXACT same look. David and Goliath would be fantastic!

  28. I’d like to see him either playing Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights or F. Scott Fitzgerald biopic

  29. James Bond and also a soldier like the one played by Josh H. in Pearl Harbor

  30. Id love to see Rob play the guy in the movie “Something New” with Saana Lathan. Movie about an interracial couple making it work when it seemed like both races were against them.

Id also like to see him play a Killer, Like a lady killer. LOL!! Crazy I know!!!

  31. I would like to see him playing mentally .. troubled. A freak, a complicated character with a split personality. Something like that.

  32. Atticus Finch – ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ he would need to age a little.

  33. The young English school teacher in The Magus’- it’s time they did a remake of this film. Micheal Caine played this role in the original movie. I think Rob would be great as this character and offer a great deal to the telling of this story.

  34. I would love to see him play David from “Bringing Up Baby” as I think he would do very well in a comedy and he seems to enjoy working with animals.

  35. One of my favorite movies is “Dances with wolves” and I would love to see Rob in the role of lieutenant Dunbar. Hopefully he’s going to be in Unbound Captives, because it’ll be something similar and another challenge in his learning process. Love his script choices!

  36. Any type of period movie. I saw some people mentioned Sense & Sensibility or Romeo & Juliet. Anything like that would be awesome!

  37. I would love to see Rob in a remake of the OLD romantic comedy Barefoot in the Park. not sure who i see as the female lead but def Meryl Streep as the mother in law!

  38. I want him to play Hugh Hefner

  39. I’d love to see him reprise the role of Michel Poiccard (held by French actor JP Belmondo) in A bout de souffle by Jean-Luc Goddard.
Or some evil or freak or troubled character or a madman, a real evil one – think Jack Nicholson…

  40. I´d love to see him as Dorian Gray, as the bad guy :-), or as Will Hunting in “Good Will Hunting”: Very clever, smart and intelligent but somehow broken by his past.

  41. I want to see him play Jesus Christ in a remake of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar. With Beyonce or Rihanna playing Mary Magdeline. I think it would be a challenge and it would stretch his talent outside of the heartthrob status.

  42. I’d like to see him play Mr Darcy. Or Maverick in Top Gun (so much hotter than Tom Cruise). Or Han Solo from Star Wars… Because come on, it’s Han.

  43. Holden Caulfield 🙂 nuff said.

  44. I want to see him in pretty woman as, what’s that guys name again? Richard Gere.. lol okay I’m only suggesting that because it’s like the first movie that I really loved and it made me a Julia Roberts fan. But still I think it would be cool to see Rob in that movie. playing piano and having sex on it..

  45. Playing Romeo in Romeo and Juliet ..and Kristen of course would be juliet ❤

    or…

    Scott in X-men ❤ ❤ ❤

    :X:X:X:X

  46. I have to agree with you… Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye 🙂 would be complete awesomeness. i think any role rob does he’ll succeed in. he’s an amazing actor.

  47. YES! I’d love to see him play Holden Caulfield too. It’s my favorite book. I must have read it over 20 times. I just recently bought another copy. I absolutely adore the book. I think Rob would be brilliant in this role.

  48. Cal Trask in East of Eden (would be a great tribute to James Dean as well)

  49. Maybe it’s just because I read it again a few weeks ago, but I would love to see him in as Maxim DeWinter in a remake of REBECCA. He’d have to be a bit older, but I would love to see him play that man who is so tortured by the sham of a relationship he had with his dead wife. Or, they could just “young up” the script a bit and do a more modern version of the story…it’s pretty timeless! Plus, Olivier played the original role for cryin’ out loud!

    • I luv that idea. Rebecca is one of my favorite books and movie and ITA a more modern version would be smashing. Look what they did with Emma, they made Clueless a more modern tale and the same with Leo DiCaprio’s Romeo and Juliet.

      • Exactly…the story could lend itself to a more modern version. But they would still need to set it in England, just to hear the delicious accent!

        • Oh, definitely, I want Cornwall and Manderlay and all the English bells and whistles, but especially in this media type world we live in, Rebecca could easily be the Paris Hilton type currently and Mrs. DeWinter a Carey Mulligan type.

  50. I would like to see him play a ” Bad Guy”

  51. James Bond, and a Soldier. (Do you imagine rob in uniform?)

  52. Mozart in Amadeus ?

  53. So may characters out there right for someone like Robert, still, first I’d like to see Robert playing the character that was of Marlon Brando in Tennesse Williams’ The Fugitive Kind, and then I’d like to see him playing Albert Camus’ The Stranger, for which it would be a must to have a hugely talented director also… I could go on and on, but these two characters are my priorities.

  54. Is it ‘cat on a hot tin roof’ that has the sexy Paul Newman part…by Tenessee Williams…lots of sweating I seem to recall…wet Rob..Mmm nice.

  55. The tom cruise part in ‘A Few Good Men’, it combines all Rob’s skills, drama, pathos, comic timing and combines two new genre..court room and armed forces. Lots of scope for rest of cast as it had Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Keifer Sutherland and Rob’s hero, Jack Nicholson in it too.

  56. I just thought of another one and it would be a younger character than the original Dustin Hoffman, since Rob is so brilliant with children, I would like to see him in a remake of Kramer Vs. Kramer. Having to cope with the impending divorce from his wife while taking care of a child he basically has ignored due to work.

  57. 1 would like to see him in james bond type of movies – he’s never done that. maybe like roger moore ‘the saint’

  58. I would like to see Rob playing a journalist like Bob Woodward in All the president`s men, a character like Jesse in Breathless, an english poet like Lord Byron. It will be great he can do more films with characters that can challenge him more.

  59. I’m glad to see some older films represented here, not just remakes of things from the last 30 years.

If you want to see Rob play a character with mental issues, or in a uniform, may I suggest A Haunted Airman. He’s done it, and quite well.

I would like to see him tackle either a screwball comedy, such as Bringing Up Baby, mentioned above, or a true old-fashioned action adventure, perhaps a remake of one of Errol Flynn’s films. Robin Hood has been done to death, so I would vote for Captain Blood.

I think he could also do nearly any Tennessee Williams. The Glass Menagerie, as either Tom or Jim, would be ideal.

  60. That’s easy.

    A Jeff Buckley Biopic….

  61. JACK DAWSON FROM TITANIC!!!!!!!! STILL WITH KATE WINSLET!!!!!

  62. hmm…I have seen him doing Romance most of the time..I would love to see him play the Bad guy! or a spy? Of course the story should be about him not just a side thing..!!
    Or he could play Hamlet?

  63. O…M…G!!! (Yeah, I never say that) I soooooo went to say

“Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye” but you beat me to it! I was reading it and kept thinking at the time “this would be a great Rob role” lol

    Love it! 😀

  64. Cyrano de Bergerac I’d die listening to his voice reciting all this romantic poems!!

  65. Oliver Barrett IV in Love Story, and old movie from the 70’s! It is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. After seeing Remember Me, I know he could pull off the emotions needed for this story.

  66. This will be it, but there are so many roles he can play, he can easily transcend any period. However, since the comment on The View, would he consider dating an older women and he said Betty White, he thought she was sexy. I would love to see him in Harold and Maude. Maude portrayed by Betty White since she is so popular right now. It would be a great combination.

  67. Classics
    • Honoré de Balzac
“La Peau de chagrin” – Raphaël de Valentin
    • Émile Zola
    “Thérèse Raquin” – Laurent
    • F.Dostoyevsky
“The Brothers Karamazov” – Ivan Karamazov or Alyosha Karamazov (both very challenging and absolutely polar)
“The Idiot”- Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin (maybe later, with more experience to come)

    Classics of the 20th century
    • Aldous Huxley
    “Crome Yellow” – Denis Stone
    • F. Scott Fitzgerald
“The Great Gatsby” – Nick Carraway
“Tender is the Night” – Dick Diver
    • E.Hemingway
“Farewell to Arms” – Frederic Henry
    • S. Maugham
    “Theatre” – Tom
    • R.P.Warren
“All the King’s Men” – Lack Burden
    • Bertolt Brecht
“Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder” – Eilif
    • Jorge Amado
“Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos” – Vadinho

    More

    • Maria Ernestam
“Caipirinha med Döden” (Caipirinha with Death) – Death
“Kleopatras kam” (Cleopatra’s Comb) – Fredrik
    • Poul Anderson
“The Man Who Came Early” – Gerald
    • Heinlein
“Stranger in a Strange Land” – Valentine Michael Smith
    • James Hadley Chase
“A Lotus for Mis Quon” – Jaffe (I know that Jaffe is described by the author as an older and more burly man, anyway, with Mr. Pattinson’s looks it’ll be even better)

  68. I’d like to see him in anything that doesn’t require much clothing. lol

  69. He would’ve been great in The Time Traveler’s Wife. I didn’t actually see the movie b/c I didn’t like the actor they picked (Eric Bana). Henry is supposed this punk-music loving runner and Eric Bana just looked like a boring football player or something.

  70. I tried to analyze what people have written here. Here’s the summary of the suggestions and opinions expressed:
    1) a beautiful, but vicious man (Duroy, any bad guy, Dorian Gray, Laurent in “Thérèse Raquin”, Raphaël de Valentin in “La Peau de chagrin”, etc.)
    2) a rebel (Tyler Hawkins, Holden Caulfield, Atticus Finch, Curt Cobain, Heathcliff, etc.)
    3) jeune premier (a countless number of characters)
    4) a saint (Jeus Christ (oh, my…), Valentine Michael Smith in “Stranger in a Strange Land, a journalist truth-seeker, Alyosha Karamazov, prince Myshkin, etc.)
    5) carefree daredevil and reveler, the embodiment of life itself (Vadinho in “Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos”)
    6) really serious dramatic roles that have various interpretations (Hamlet, Ivan Karamazov, Mozart, Death, etc.)
    7) wounded, self-tormenting characters (Darcy, smth like Toby Jugg, Nick Carraway, Dick Diver, Frederic Henry, etc.)
    8) a person in extreme circumstances trying to hold his own self together (Gerald in “The Man Who Came Early”). Or is it almost the same as the previous point?
    9) comic characters

Quite a few visions and treatments. But why do most of people’s ideas rotate around remakes? Aren’t there new characters and new scripts and books?

I also feel strongly that in commercial movies he will be exploited as jeune premier and a beautiful, but vicious man mostly. Any flight from this cage is possible only with indie movies. I can only hope for his own taste and the fact that now he can choose what he’d really like to play.
