From Idol Vine:
It’s been a couple of years since David Cronenberg got involved in the film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel Cosmopolis and we’re happy to let you know that shooting is set to begin in Toronto on May 24. There’ve been quite a few casting switches but it looks like all is settled. Robert Pattinson gets top billing, but the cast includes Jay Baruchel, Paul Giamatti, Sarah Gadon, Juliette Binoche and Kevin Durand.
Pattinson plays the character Eric Packer, a young, multi-billionaire asset manager who sets out one day in Manhattan (there goes Toronto pretending to be NYC again) in his fabulously appointed stretch limo to get a haircut. The story/parable takes place over one day, during which Packer loses everything. The ending is apocalyptic.
Pattinson says Cosmopolis is one of his favourite novels and that the role is very hard, but he is “trying to turn it.”
One other note: the musical score will be by Canadian composer Howard Shore, a frequent collaborator with Cronenberg (they worked together on the opera version of The Fly, also Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch, Scanners, Eastern Promises, and others). Shore also wrote the music for The Lord of the Rings and is working on The Hobbit.

Here’s the weekly round-up of pics and quotes of the day that we post on our Tumblr.

“I enjoy working with children and animals more than adults the majority of the time because they’re a constant source of inspiration because they’re just doing their own thing. They don’t know they’re in a movie.”

The official Cosmopolis website has updated their info with Sarah Gadon casting info AND revealed that Samantha Morton will play Vija Kinski.

With production set to being shooting this summer in Toronto, casting on David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” starring Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, and Mathieu Amalric is wrapping up. Samantha Morton joined the cast last week—via a Robert Pattinson interview—now she’s been confirmed and according to Entertainment One, who is handling the picture’s distribution in Canada, one more has joined the cast: Canadian actress Sarah Gadon.
Known in Canada for the television series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?,” Gadon currently stars on the CBC drama, “The Border.” More importantly she has already worked with Cronenberg landing a smaller role in the filmmaker’s already-shot “A Dangerous Method” where she plays Emma Jung, Carl Jung’s wife. That picture stars Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel.
Gadon will be playing the role of Pattinson’s estranged wife Elise Shifrin.
Write up from the scans of the interview in EW Magazine:
“Pattinson says that signing on to Elephants, directed by I am Legend’s Francis Lawrence, was a no brainer, and that he’s considering his post-Twilight career very carefully- though ultimately he knows whatever will be, will be. “It’s impossible to predict anything,” he sighs before grinning. “When it all goes down the toilet, you can just weep.” After the labour intensive shoot for the final two Twilight films, Breaking Dawn parts 1 & 2 (in theatres Nov 2011 & Nov 2011), wraps in April, he’ll start shooting David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, with Juliette Binoche and Paul Giamatti. “He’s an incredibly hard working person with an incredible work ethic,” says Witherspoon. “He doesn’t ever complain. Not once. Which is sort of lower than the national average for actors. They’re always complaining. Especially the men!”
Twilight lovers will be happy to know that Pattinson is as good looking and thick-maned in person as he appears on screen. But they shouldn’t confuse him with any of the broody characters he’s played. He’s talkative and laughs easily- about the intense fame that’s followed him since Twilight became a phenomenon (“How is this still a story? It’s boring.”), about the darkness of the Breaking Dawn movies (“It’s going to be sooo weird.”), and most of all, at himself. “I’d love to play a big fat person,” he says, contemplating a different look in a post-Edward Cullen era. No doubt it would just mean more of him to love.
EW: You and Tai, the elephant, have a special bond in Water for Elephants. Do you think she’ll remember you at our photo shoot tomorrow?
Robert Pattinson: I don’t know. I’m terrified that she won’t. I’ll be so so happy if she does.

Then it’s on to David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis with Robert Pattinson. Are you ready for R-Pat’s fans? They’re pretty loud.
When a friend of mine heard I was doing this movie, and he was in it, she completely freaked out. But I’m just so blissfully unaware of this stuff, I wasn’t even taking in the fact that it’s the Twilight guy.

Hollywood Life talks with Robert Pattinson’s Cosmopolis Co-Star Paul Giamatti about the movie and Rob. He’s already a big fan of Rob:
“He’s great! Absolutely love the guy!”
Giamatti also talked about the plot. Check it out at Hollywood Life. Filming is set to begin next month in Toronto.
