When Robert Pattinson’s character, Cedric Diggory, was ruthlessly slain in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – thereby ending his brief, but magical spell at Hogwarts – it could so easily have been curtains for his fledgling career. Instead, it acted as the catalyst for a grander fantasy, as he was propelled from bit-part wizard to vampire lead Edward Cullen in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling teen-tome, Twilight.
In doing so, not only has Pattinson starred in two of the biggest fantasy franchises in film history – a huge coup for any aspiring actor – but he’s also become one of Hollywood’s hottest new stars and a pin-up for hordes of adoring, teenage girls.
Accordingly, his life’s become a whirl of crazed, Twilight fans loitering outside his home, the paparazzi preying upon his every move and being mobbed whenever he appears in public. It’s a predicament he’s struggling to cope with.

He’s bigger than Ben-Hur at the moment, if you believe all the hype. Yet to come face-to-face with Robert Pattinson is to meet a serious artist, a multi-talented individual who could as easily have been a classical or funky musician as a movie star.
The Twilight juggernaut is propelling the 23-year-old British actor to the heights of mega stardom and, having previously only played minor roles, most notably as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, he is making the most of it.

Here’s a great article about Rob and Little Ashes.
Never underestimate the power of fan frenzy. Director Paul Morrison made a small, highly literate film called Little Ashes, about a youthful relationship between the artist, Salvador Dali, and the poet, Federico Garcia Lorca, who met in Madrid in 1922.
Neither of them had fully defined themselves as the artists they would later become, and the film depicts their friendship as intense and ambiguous, with a strong homoerotic magnetism.
It is an art movie but Dali is played by Robert Pattinson, the haunted vampire from the Twilight series and he is currently the fan favourite of the world’s teens, so Little Ashes is attracting huge teen interest.

General Pattinson: ‘Twilight’ isn’t his only starring role
by Rob Thomas
There’s a downside to being an actor who has become an “overnight sensation.” It actually didn’t happen overnight.
While everyone thinks he suddenly popped up on the scene because of that big hit movie, in reality the actor has probably been toiling quietly away at thankless, underseen, sometimes just plain embarrassing roles waiting for that big break. And, once that big break happens, the folks who own those little-seen before-you-were-famous films are only too happy to cash in.
That’s what’s happening with Robert Pattinson, best known as vampire heartthrob Edward from the smash hit “Twilight” and the upcoming sequel, “New Moon.” “New Moon” doesn’t come out until Nov. 20, so DVD companies know Pattinson’s fans are getting anxious to see him in action. And they’re only too happy to oblige.
