French Distributor Confirms ‘Maps To The Stars’ May Release For France Leave a comment
From Allocine | Translation thanks to Pattinson_AW
Le Pacte has announced that “Maps to the Stars”, the next feature film by David Cronenberg starring Robert Pattinson, John Cusack and Julianne Moore will hit our screens in May 2014.
As we announced in January a first editing of Maps To The Stars was ready and that the film had passed by the Committee of Film Classification in the United States, Le Pacte – the french distributor – just gave a release date for the next film by David Cronenberg, in May 2014.
No specific date has been given, but like his Cosmopolis in 2012, there is a good chance that the release will be made simultaneously in theaters and for its presentation at Cannes.
Led by Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore and John Cusack, Maps To The Stars central theme is Hollywood, and more exactly the obsession with celebrity.
David Cronenberg has been selected 4 times in Cannes in Official Competition: Crash in 1996 and Spider in 2002, A History of Violence in 2005 and Cosmopolis in 2012.
Note that The Rover by David Michôd with Robert Pattinson has no realease date yet too and could be in competition for the Palme d’Or.
Double dose of Pattinson for the 67th Cannes Film Festival?
The French distributor also confirmed via twitter to Pattinson_AW the May release

‘The Rover’ and ‘Maps to the Stars’ on Total Film’s “50 Original Properties Slated For 2014” list 1 comment
From Total Film
It’s not all about sequels and adaptations
The Rover
The Film: After wowing audiences with Animal Kingdom, Aussie director David Michôd returns with a violent Outback thriller set in the near future, in which Guy Pearce hunts down the criminals who stole his last possessions, aided by the injured gang member they left behind (Robert Pattinson, continuing his mission to move on from Edward Cullen).
If It Was Based On Something: If Young Ones has a Mad Max vibe, this one trumps it by being Australian.
Maps To The Stars
The Film: After a long period flirting with respectability, David Cronenberg seems to be back in touch with his inner weirdo, judging by his latest film – a satire about celebrity culture featuring drug-addicted child stars, ghostly visions and psychotherapy. Cosmopolis stars Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon are joined by Cronenberg newbies John Cusack, Julianne Moore and Mia Wasikowska.
If It Was Based On Something: Don’t be confused that screenwriter Bruce Wagner wrote a book, Dead Stars, with the same story – he wrote the screenplay first.

Belgian site lists ‘Map to the Stars’ as one of the top 10 movies to watch in 2014 2 comments
The Belgian site Focus lists ‘Map of the Stars’ on #2 in the list of top 10 movies to watch in 2014:
(translation by us)
David Cronenberg who’s daring to take on a celebrity satire? It sounds even stranger than the creatures he released into the world from his movies Videodrome, The Fly, Dead Ringers and Naked Linch, although the Canadian master showed with A History of Violence, Eastern Promises and Dangerous Method that he was capable of being far more than ‘just’ a Hollywood body horror king. What to expect? A disfunctional family tale about two former child stars, the entertainment industry and western civilization, with in the leading roles Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska and Twilight-hottie [really…!] Robert Pattinson.
