Steve Weinstein asseses the Oscars and talks about Robert Pattinson   1 comment

British-born actor Robert Pattinson arri

That said, the Academy Awards presentation, or as it’s more commonly called, the gay Super Bowl, is watched by hundreds of millions of people around the world. Everyone speculates on who will be nominated, who will win and why, including, inevitably, the British bookmakers.

Overlooked is a personal choice: Robert Pattinson. No, not for the “Twilight” series, but for “Cosmopolis.” Dismissed as glorified mannequin, Pattinson took on a no-budget film adaptation of an impossible-to-adapt book from an impenetrable author adapted by an avant-garde director. As a Wall Street Master of the Universe who never leaves his chauffeured limousine, Pattinson carries the movie the way Michael Jordan carried the Chicago Bulls.

Still, it’s not surprising the voters overlooked Pattinson. He’ll just have to keep taking chances while he rakes it in with mega-grossers. (See DiCaprio, below.)

Robert Pattinson on Forbes ‘Hollywood’s best actors for the buck’ list   3 comments

COSMOPCPATTINSONLIFE (2)

From Forbes:

Robert Pattinson ranks 4th with a $31.70 return for every dollar he is paid. Pattinson’s other movies this year, Bel Ami and Cosmopolis, weren’t released in enough theaters to count for this list. TheTwilight films have grossed $3.3 billion at the global box office and the final film, Breaking Dawn Part 2, is still in theaters. The only other film we looking at for Pattinson was Water for Elephants which grossed $118 million at the global box office on a $38 million budget.

To compile our list, we used data on actors’ earnings gathered for our Celebrity 100 list. Box office grosses and budget estimates are from Box Office Mojo. We looked at the last three films each actor starred in over the last three years that opened in more than 2,000 theaters, calculating the return on investment for the studios who pay his (or her) salary. We didn’t count movies where the actor was in a supporting or large ensemble role and we didn’t count animated movies. The actors who score well on this list tend to have small paydays and star in highly profitable movies.

‘Cosmopolis’ on the cover of ‘Godard!’ magazine – Peru   2 comments

Cosmopolis

From Godard Magazine:

Godard!, The leading film magazine of Peru, reaches its 32nd again with a large format 100 pages and the best content.

In this edition, the cover is occupied by Robert Pattinson for his role in ‘Cosmopolis’, the latest film by David Cronenberg, cataloged in various parts of the world as one of the best films of the year and in which the young actor has surprised strangers by your own interpretation.

On this subject, we present a double critique of the critically acclaimed film, plus an article on Cronenberg and already famous adaptations of novels, in our section LIBROFILM.”
