Bel Ami directors talk about making the movie, why original release was delayed & more   7 comments

Variety had a talk with the directors of Bel Ami: Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod . Some interesting background info on the making of the movie:

When Brit theater veterans Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod were approached by “The Full Monty” producer Uberto Pasolini to direct a film version of 19th century novelist Guy de Maupassant’s “Bel Ami,” it was as if all their Christmas wishes had come true at once.

“It’s a novel that we’ve always wanted to do a feature about,” said theater director-writer Donnellan, whose stage credits include “King Lear” and “The School for Scandal.”

“It’s a completely modern theme about fame and corruption in which a man discovers the way to power is through the women in Paris,” he said. “It’s all about fame and money made in a world in which women have a lot of influence.”

Juliette Binoche talks about Cosmopolis and mentions Robert Pattinson   Leave a comment

Juliette Binoche spoke with Madame Figaro about Cosmopolis.

Translation:
What do you do in Cosmopolis, the next David Cronenberg?
I make love in the limo! Belonging to Robert Pattinson, fabulously wealthy man who wants it all and loses it all! It sounds like Cronenberg, doesn’t it? Director of photography, Peter Suschitzky, lights up each shot like a painting. Robert and I were alone in the car with a camera and a microphone, and we could hear David’s voice coming from a distance: we would redo a take, then another one, etc. There was something clinical about it, which for me was a change from Amos Gitai or Abel Ferrara.

Original transcript:

Daniel Radcliffe mentions Robert Pattinson in an interview   Leave a comment

Does it seem weird that you said if you attach yourself to the project that it would get the green light?

This project was already far enough along and had enough people behind it, including the Hammer name to be getting it going, I was just the final thing that was needed.

You’re being modest…

I promise it’s not false modesty though. There are very, very few actors whose name you know… even people like me and Rob Pattinson, who are at the moment big names and bankable – whatever that means – there are very few actors whose saying yes to something would mean a green light for that film. I think probably George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp, are the only three that have that kind of pull, and that comes from how they’ve had very long careers and are universally respected as actors and as professionals. So there’s a long way to go before we’re at that stage.

David Cronenberg reacts to Cosmopolis’ Win in the MTV Brawl   4 comments

Eric Packer is about to embark upon the worst car ride of his life. Thankfully, Robert Pattinson — the actor who plays Packer in “Cosmopolis” — doesn’t share his character’s fate.

Pattinson fans came out in full force to elect “Cosmopolis” the winner of the MTV Movie Brawl 2012, a weeks-long tournament that pitted several of 2012’s biggest releases against one another to determine which film is the must-see cinematic event of the year. After tense battles against titans like “Bel Ami,” “The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn: Part 2,” “The Dark Knight Rises” and “The Hunger Games,” it’s Pattinson’s upcoming indie thriller that took home the grand prize.

It’s a surprising result for many onlookers, given that “Cosmopolis” has yet to release a trailer and only has a tentative release date of 2012. But Rob’s fans rallied behind their man, opting to support his future in “Cosmopolis” over his past in “Twilight” — a commanding decision from a massive fanbase that demands attention, to say the least. In fact, the movement was so strong that it even caught “Cosmopolis” director David Cronenberg’s eye even before the film won the brawl for it all. Shortly after the victory was announced, Cronenberg got on the phone with MTV News to talk about what “Cosmopolis” winning the MTV Movie Brawl means for the film, Pattinson’s performance, when fans can expect to see a trailer and much more.

MTV: David, thanks for talking with us! Have you been filled in on what’s happened with “Cosmopolis” over here?
David Cronenberg: You know, I’ve been following it! I’m shocked! I’m shocked and amazed and really tickled. It proves that movie fans are unpredictable and really interesting and really passionate. It’s fantastic. I would have never, ever imagined that this would happen.

Rachel Zoe (Stylist) talks Robert Pattinson and Twillight in an interview with Team-Twilight   5 comments

Rachel Zoe talks about Rob and Twilight in an exclusive interview with Team-Twilight

You’ve also been outspoken about your crush on Robert Pattinson. Have you gotten to meet him yet?
No, I have not met Rob. But, I have many mutual friends and have heard nothing but the loveliest things about him. I think he’s a very talented actor and would love to meet him in the future.

If you could style any of the Twilight cast, who would you pick and why?
Bella and Edward — I would love to dress them as a couple because I think that’s always fun.

If you had to pick: Twilight books or movies?
Movies, because I’m an extremely visual person. I actually read the books after the movies, which was fun because I could see Kristen and Robert as Bella and Edward.

Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Team Edward, obvi.
