From MTV:
Stardom comes in many different shapes and sizes, and the 2010 MTV Movie Awards pay tribute to all of them. There’s Breakthrough success, the acclaim that comes from a star-making turn or performance in a film. There’s Badass success — which certainly should speak for itself. And then there’s the Global Superstar, that actor or performer whose success has transcended geographic borders, age groups and gender to become recognized all over the globe — not only for their roles, but for themselves. Here’s a look at this year’s contenders:
Robert Pattinson
Even if he hadn’t stepped into the shoes of Edward Cullen, the dreamy, translucent crush object for millions of teenage girls (and their moms) from the “Twilight” book and film series, Robert Pattinson would still be a star thanks to his turn as Cedric Diggory in two of the “Harry Potter” films. But about a second after he offered his first in a series of longing stares at Kristen Stewart’s Bella in the first “Twilight” film, he became an international icon, and hasn’t slowed down since that film was released in 2008. Additionally, he immersed himself in several non-“Twilight” roles in films like those in “Little Ashes” and “Remember Me,” proving not only that he can open a movie on the strength of his fandom, but take a bite out of a variety of characters, whether or not they’re vampires.

Elizabeth Reaser might play Edward’s adopted vampire mom, Esme Cullen, in “Twilight,” but that doesn’t mean she can’t find the “Eclipse” tent scene to be one really sexy moment. If Twi-Hards thought it was hot in the book, Reaser said, then they really need to see the flick, out June 30.
“The tent scene, I remember that being one of the hottest scenes in the books, so I’m excited to see that,” Reaser said when she stopped by the MTV News offices Tuesday (May 18). “I’m Team Edward, so I can’t relate to [Bella] being torn [between Edward and Jacob], but I mean, come on, vampires are cool! Wolves are super hairy and they smell disgusting, like dogs.”
Reaser said the tent scene ups the sexual ante in the “Twilight Saga.” “The tent scene is sort of a three-way — I mean, it’s a chaste three-way, but it is, nonetheless, a three-way,” she said. “So I do think that ups the sexiness factor in this movie, but I don’t know. The first movie, I thought, was intensely sexy, because they couldn’t touch, and to watch them fall in love was so sexy. And I love that, in the books, they all have great chemistry. So it’s fun to watch.”
Regardless of how chaste the tent scene is, Reaser understands that Twilighters are anticipating it. “I have no realistic idea of what excites people. I’m always surprised,” she said of what fans are looking forward to. “If I were a fan? I’m starting to sound like a sicko, but I would say the tent scene. I mentioned it like five times now. It’s getting weird. That’s my son! I’m happy we’re not really related, so it’s not that weird.
“I’m excited to see the action, like running through the forest,” she added. “I was running on the back of the truck at 30 miles per hour, so I’m excited to see that.”

HOLLYWOOD — Everyone from Nylon’s May cover girls, Vanessa Hudgens, Portia Doubleday and Ashley Greene, to Zac Efron and the girls from “The City” and “The Hills” stopped by the Nylon and YouTube Young Hollywood Party held at the Roosevelt Hotel on Wednesday night. And while they were all there to celebrate young Hollywood’s finest, Robert Pattinson’s 24th birthday was also on some minds — well, particularly when MTV News asked them about it on the red carpet.
“Rob, I hope you have the best birthday ever, and let me know where your party is,” Stephanie Pratt addressed the “Twilight” star via MTV News. “I will be there!”
Chelsea Staub from the TV show “JONAS” seemed to want to join Pratt at Pattinson’s birthday bash. “If you want to party, give me a call,” she said.
“Happy birthday!” Vanessa Hudgens said with a giggle.
“I whole-heartedly wish you a happy birthday,” “The Buried Life” star Ben Nemtin said. His gal pal, “The City” star Whitney Port, added simply, “Happy birthday!”
The conversation very quickly turned to what these young Hollywood stars would give Pattinson for his big day. “A fish taco, ’cause fish tacos are really good,” Nemtin said. “And if you haven’t had one for your birthday, you should have one.”
Hudgens was reluctant to presume what RPattz would want. “I met him once or twice. I don’t really know him,” she said. “I don’t know what he likes. So, I hope he has a good one.”
Staub had the perfect gift idea: “Some ear plugs,” she suggested for the actor who’s greeted worldwide by screaming girls. “Because I’m sure he’s going to have hearing damage by the time his career is over.”
Pratt, however, decided to take her gift to the next level. “Probably a tux to wear to our wedding,” she said
From MTV:
Many in the “Twilight” fan community thought they’d have to wait until this afternoon to the brand-new “Eclipse” trailer on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” But Oprah in her infinite generosity posted it on her Web site as soon as her show aired in Chicago (at 9 a.m. CT). And now we can all determine whether this second look at “Eclipse” has resolved any the problems there were with the first one.
Most important, this new trailer highlights the the violence of “Eclipse,” and a lot of it. While the first teaser focused on the love triangle between Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner), this one is all about the threat bad-girl vampire Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) is posing with her newborn vampire army.
The trailer kicks off with Jacob confronting Bella and Edward at their school. “Jacob, what are you doing?” Bella asks him. “I’m here to warn you,” he replies, adding as he looks at Edward, “She has a right to know.” The tension between the three of them is pronounced, setting up that dynamic without having to dedicate an entire trailer to it.
While Edward narrates the “situation in Seattle” for Bella, the trailer shows a man being attacked by a vampire on the dark streets of the city. Continued shots of newborn vampires trashing cars and causing havoc are spliced with the Cullens planning their response. “Sounds pretty alarming,” Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) says.
Finally there are some clear shots of the new vampires climbing over what looks like an unused lumber yard and walking up to a body of water. Then there’s a close-up shot of Riley (Xavier Samuel), their leader. “They’re coming here,” Alice (Ashley Greene) foresees.
“This means an ugly fight, with lives lost,” Carlisle tells an unseen person, and then Jacob replies, “We’re in.” The next scene shows the werewolf pack walking out of the woods, for the first time showing the alliance between the vampires and werewolves. “As long as we get to kill some vampires,” Jacob adds while looking at Edward.
This trailer also shows the Volturi as a presiding force over the battle between the newborns and Cullen/Quileute team. It’s a bit surprising that the vampire elite have been featured so much in both trailers, considering they have a fairly small role in the actual novel. Fortunately, after their brief moment in the trailer, the much-hyped epic “Eclipse” battle is shown, and plenty of violence ensues.
In the midst of the final battle scene, a scene with Edward pressing an engagement ring into Bella’s hand is cut in, showing that the editors of this trailer didn’t forget the romance that accompanies the action-packed plot.
In the last 20 seconds of the trailer, Victoria runs through the woods, away from what seems to be Edward. Then we see the wolf pack leap into the fight, in a shot reminiscent of Jacob’s transformation at the end of the “New Moon” trailer.
Unlike the first “Eclipse” teaser, this newest trailer will give viewers an adequate idea of what they have to expect from the third installment of “The Twilight Saga.” Judging by the great action scenes shown in this newest video, “Eclipse” might convert some new fans to the “Saga” after all.
