Vampires are sort of, what’s the word, in right now. I mean, if you haven’t been living in Antarctica this past year, you may have noticed a very obvious trend. Remember way back in the day when every guy wanted to be Neo from The Matrix because he had that cool trench coat and could do sweet flips? Those days are long gone. Today it’s all about fangs and an aversion to sunlight. Goth is back. Pale is the new tan.
And really, we shouldn’t be all that surprised. Vampires are hot. They don’t age. They look good in black. Some of them have inner-turmoil issues. Granted, they drink blood and that’s kind of gross, but so are hot dogs and most of us love those. Who are we to judge?
General Pattinson: ‘Twilight’ isn’t his only starring role
by Rob Thomas
There’s a downside to being an actor who has become an “overnight sensation.” It actually didn’t happen overnight.
While everyone thinks he suddenly popped up on the scene because of that big hit movie, in reality the actor has probably been toiling quietly away at thankless, underseen, sometimes just plain embarrassing roles waiting for that big break. And, once that big break happens, the folks who own those little-seen before-you-were-famous films are only too happy to cash in.
That’s what’s happening with Robert Pattinson, best known as vampire heartthrob Edward from the smash hit “Twilight” and the upcoming sequel, “New Moon.” “New Moon” doesn’t come out until Nov. 20, so DVD companies know Pattinson’s fans are getting anxious to see him in action. And they’re only too happy to oblige.
Will Robert Pattinson Survive the Twilight Saga Hype? by Larson Hill
With so much Twilight Saga news and celebrity Twilight gossip surrounding New Moon star Robert Pattinson, you have to wonder how Pattinson will be affected by such feverish Twilight attention. I’ve written similar pieces about how the Twilight Saga may impact Robert Pattinson and Twilight cast members Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner and I continue to wonder where Pattinson will stand professionally as an actor when the Twilight Saga comes to a close.
The director of “American Pie” and “About a Boy” wasn’t the obvious choice to take on “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” the second book in Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster teen vampire romance series. But Chris Weitz, who also writes and produces, sometimes with his brother Paul, had done a fantasy adaptation in 2007’s “The Golden Compass” and felt a connection to the material. On Nov. 20, “Twilight” fans — and Summit Entertainment, which is releasing the film — will determine whether he was up to the task.
The Hollywood Reporter: Why did you want to do a “Twilight” movie?
Chris Weitz: The tonality of the movie, which has a lot to do with heartbreak and longing, depression and reunion and ecstasy — these were emotions that struck a chord in me. I really loved the cast; Kristen (Stewart) and Rob (Pattinson) both are exceptionally talented. And I wanted to get my hand back in the game. There were a lot of things in this movie that I knew how to do: A combination of telling a character-based story but also handling special effects and working with young actors.
The results are in. The celebrity the GLAMOUR.COM readers voted as the Sexiest Youngster was… Robert Pattinson. The Twilight actor garnered a significant percentage of the votes to be named the hottest star under 30. Second in the poll was Transformers actress Megan Fox, who you voted as the Sexiest Woman, and third was the loveable High School Musical star Zac Efron. Robert Pattinson’s Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart wasn’t far behind him, at No.4, and Vanessa Hudgens finished off the top five.
