Ummm…is it OK if I suggest that he MAKE a music CD? Because that could potentially be the greatest thing I’ve ever heard!
lol very true.
Spunk Ransom already just sent him a huge compilation picked by his fans
http://www.spunk-ransom.com/2010/06/01/the-finished-product-spunk-ransoms-birthday-project-to-rob/
We aren’t saying we’re sending him a CD this is just a poll. We’re sending him a book.
Vacilando Territory Blues by Josh Tillman
“Vacilando” in Spanish means wanderer, for whom the experience of the journey is more important than reaching the goal. This is intimate and nostalgic album for a very talented person ROB;) who proves that this adventure has just begun.
I’d suggest pretty much any CD by Jesse Cook but I love this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGkR8FXq1aQ
Any CD by Blue October, preferably “Approaching Normal”.
They are the most amazing band!
Amy Winehouse – Live in Paradiso Amsterdam 2007
this is a GREAT CD. besides, amy is from london too and sing Blus.
Fito Páez – No sé si es Baires o Madrid 2008
Concert done in Madrid by this extraordinary Argentine singer. He plays the piano and the guitar. I think Rob will love it ! 😉
The MTV Mash of Linkin Park and Jay Z. It is an awesome cd. It was truly groundbreaking at the time. I know he likes Rap and I think he would love it. It is still my favorite disc hands down.
Gah! Just one?! Thats impossible!! I have a dozen I want him listen… I seriously have to think about this and try and reduce the list lol
Hey! You’re the one who came up with the question!
I know but I said I’d give him a list: a very loooong list lol
Oh well you have to pick just one lol =P
I cant!!! Impossible to pick just one!! I mean he needs to hear mumford & sons, jonsi, snow patrol, Jeff Buckley, pearl jam, queens of the stone age, lamb, tool, puscifer, placebo, nine inch nails, and… And…and…
I would suggest him to listen to Matt Morris. Matt is a really great artist and its a new sound and really similar to the music that Rob likes.
-Getz/Gilberto (Original recording reissued, Original recording remastered) by João Gilberto, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Stan Getz;
-The Best of Antonio Carlos Jobim: 20th Century Masters – The Millennium Collection (Original recording remastered);
-Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto;
-A Foreign Sound by Caetano Veloso;
-Best of Caetano Veloso by Caetano Veloso;
-Magnolia: Music from the Motion Picture by Aimee Mann;
-Colour the Small One by Sia;
-Recovery by Eminem;
Great Brazilian and international music and I think would give so much pleasure for Rob. It is his type.
Vampire Weekend. Album: Contra. BEST music ever. Vampire Weekend is amazing. I think Rob would like it. 😉
OMG. SRSLY?!
The Bloodhound Gang: Hooray for Boobies! (yes. I own this. proudly.)
Lmfao
wait. are we gonna send him this one? can we please? the CD is even shaped like a boob!
if not…I suppose I could send it to de niro…
L…M…F…A…O… That would be HILARIOUS! LOL
Are you still de-dotting De Niro? LOL
yeah. but damn that jerk has a lot of dots to err…de-dot…ifyaknowwhatImean. I may have to find another robert. I wonder if Downey Jr needs a page.
I’ll bet you he shouts hooray for boobies!
Lmfaoooooo! Love ya Jen.
Bwahahaha!!! Brilliant!!
– August & Everything After by Counting Crows
I’m showing my age with that one, but it’s truly the one CD that I can listen to forever and it never, ever, ever get old. I think I’m on like my 3rd copy of it by now. *Note to self: I really should buy it digitally on iTunes*
This album has some of the single most brilliant lyrics I’ve ever heard. Bloody brilliant.
Gah love that album. Have you heard the versions of the songs they did on Across a Wire: Live in New York City? I love the version of Round Here on there. Round Here is one of my favorite songs.
Ten Summoners Tales by Sting Because it’s great music to make love to.
Definitely ‘The Best of Simon & Garfunkel’.I love that CD 🙂
It’s a really tough question 🙂 ..to pick only one cd what Rob would love…hmmm…oh, maybe I would suggest to him the High School Musical soundtrack lol I bet he’d love it and would listen the songs round and round lol or maybe some Miley Cyrus would be better?!?! 🙂
But now seriously..I love love all the songs from Jeff Buckley, so I would suggest to Rob that one.. ‘Forget Her’ by Jeff Buckley is my fav.
The People vs. by Trick Trick
or
Slaughterhouse by Slaughterhouse
Both some hard rap out of Detroit. Love it a lot but not for everybody.
I tell you there is going to be a great concert here this weekend…Jay Z and Eminem together at the Comerica. If I had a ticket or two, I would love to take Rob to that show. I think Trick Trick might be making an appearance also.
Ahhh, so many things I daydream of sharing with Rob.
For now, let’s go with…
Mermaid Avenue – Billy Bragg Wilco
or
Never Make It Home -Split Lip Rayfield
or
White Ghost Shivers-any album is fine, but he should go to a show!!
Satie, early work for piano (Gymnopédies (3) & Gnossiennes (6) ) performed by Reinbert de Leeuw, because his version isssss soooooo slooooooow.
Sample: http://www.amazon.com/Satie-Early-Piano-Works-Erik/dp/B0000069CS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1283320971&sr=1-1
Just try the first sound bit: 1. Gnossiennes – No. 1 – Lent. For a lazy, rainy Sunday morning…
Looooove Satie!!
this is GREAT album and i’m sure Robert would like it 🙂
MUMFORD and SONS – “SIGH NO MORE”
http://mumfordandsons.com/
I agree with you!! (see my comment below) 😀
Okay here goes: besides mumford & sons, snow patrol, Jeff Buckley, pearl jam, queens of the stone age, lamb, tool, puscifer, placebo, nine inch nails, Keith Caputo, Joan as Policewoman, Cary Brothers, Nizlopi, Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, Elbow, Kate Nash and many many more I’ll just tip Rob my latest purchase:
Jonsi: frontman of the band Sigúr Ros going solo: beautiful CD.
And He just HAS to listen to Mumford & Sons: I can definitely see him record a song with them 🙂
Damien Rice – He is A M A Z I N G
Katie Noonan – She is an Aussie singer who used to be in a band called George. She writes beautiful music.
Absolutely Love Damien Rice 🙂
omgomgomg…
What about Soundmaster T’s 2 Much Booty (in da pants)
Classic.
BWahahahahaha! I love this!! *dances*
What about Frédéric Chopin – valses and préludes and stuff for piano?? If he plays classical work, he might know and appreciate something like the “revolutionary etude” or the “fantasie impromptu”…??!!
Green day – 21st century breakdown.
My fav!! 🙂
Rob Thomas Cradlesong – I just love his voice and it’s a bit of a mix of styles. This is my fave song from it, Someday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6pODq8_FxE
I think he would like the album sigh no more by Mumford & Sons because it sound like the kind of music he and his friends play with a dash if indie in it. it would also be great if he made a CD of his own ;))
I’m can’t listen to it for hours, but whenever I hear Xavier Rudd sing ‘Let me be’ I think of Rob (‘s situation).
Oh oh, Let me be now
Hmm hmm, let me because
I want to be free now
Oh oh, free to see, yeah well
Want to walk away, oh oh
Let me feel my feet
Let me be, free
ANY COLDPLAY CD! as in:
– parachutes
– a rush of blood to the head
– x & y
– viva la vida
preferably the older ones because they are definitely better, viva la vida became too mainstream but coldplay is definitely my favorite band of all time so i’d recommend them to him, even though he’s probably already heard their work.
also, florence and the machine are absolutely incredible although i cant see him listening to that type of music im just throwing it out there that theyre great!
