The director of “American Pie” and “About a Boy” wasn’t the obvious choice to take on “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” the second book in Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster teen vampire romance series. But Chris Weitz, who also writes and produces, sometimes with his brother Paul, had done a fantasy adaptation in 2007’s “The Golden Compass” and felt a connection to the material. On Nov. 20, “Twilight” fans — and Summit Entertainment, which is releasing the film — will determine whether he was up to the task.
The Hollywood Reporter: Why did you want to do a “Twilight” movie?
Chris Weitz: The tonality of the movie, which has a lot to do with heartbreak and longing, depression and reunion and ecstasy — these were emotions that struck a chord in me. I really loved the cast; Kristen (Stewart) and Rob (Pattinson) both are exceptionally talented. And I wanted to get my hand back in the game. There were a lot of things in this movie that I knew how to do: A combination of telling a character-based story but also handling special effects and working with young actors.
So I was at the UK twilight con at the weekend, and Rachelle LeFevre was asked what funny bloopers happened during filming. She told a story about filming the birthday party scene (obviously she was just watching the filming) where Jackson had to jump into Rob over and over again at all different speeds and from all different angles. :’)
One time they did it super fast, and only when they watched it back in slow motion did everyone see that just as jackson jumped into rob he planted a kiss on rob’s cheek.
Idk, i thought it was hella cute and showed how close the cullen actors are.
In an interview given to MTV News ,Jackson says that New Moon has plenty of Edward scenes. Here is the interview:
When MTV News recently caught up with “New Moon” star Jackson Rathbone on the set of his new movie “Girlfriend,” we had to ask how much we’d be seeing Jasper Hale in the second installment of the “Twilight” saga.
“I only shot for three weeks, and out of those three weeks that I was [in Vancouver] I think I actually filmed four days,” Jackson said. “So, I mean, I’m not so much in ‘New Moon.’ “
Since Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen departs early in the book, he is largely absent, and the rest of the Cullens aren’t seen until the end of the story either.
We detagged and pieced together the pieces of the New Moon stills in People Magazine. I posted a few of these earlier but now they’re all here. These pics are not out in HQ yet but now we have them. We did all of them since we thought some of you might appreciate having the wolf pack ones as well as the ones of Jacob and Bella.
Maria put back the pieces to the big Rob pic on the floor. I removed the mag tags on all the pics. I’ll be posting more later. But here’s what I have for now.
Given the increasing Twilight buzz surrounding New Moon star Robert Pattinson, it should come as no surprise to any Twilight Saga fan of Pattinson that the Twilight lead doesn’t know how long he wants to be an actor. In a recent Twilight Pattinson interview with Seventeen Magazine (via MTV), that’s exactly what Robert Pattinson revealed, stating, “I don’t even know if I want to be an actor that long.” Also, in relation to future movies beyond Twilight, New Moon, and the Twilight Saga in general, Pattinson admitted, “… if I start doing lame work, I’m not going to stick around and do it!” Interestingly, Robert Pattinson also revealed in the Twilight and New Moon related interview that he felt uncertain about his image from Twilight and that also being on the Twilight soundtrack at the same time made him looked ridiculous.
