As filming wraps this week on “Eclipse,” and “New Moon” is mere weeks away from invading theaters nationwide, we are pleased to report that Jackson Rathbone is alive and well. A few vampire scuffles in Vancouver can’t take down the immortal Jasper Hale.
Recently, we caught up with the actor/ 100 Monkeys frontman to talk about what might be his final days as Stephenie Meyer’s endearing Confederate vampire. The fan fave was eager to talk about jamming with Robert Pattinson, exploring Jasper’s backstory in “Eclipse,” and setting his own face on fire.
“New Moon Director Wants to Make Fans Cry”“I’ve handled it very badly, because I’m extremely envious of Rob [Pattinson] and Taylor [Lautner],” he said laughing. “What I’ve realized is that they have a very tough job – not just playing the characters that they play, but living lives that are now very much under scrutiny all the time.”
With New Moon ready to rise in theaters Nov. 20, director Chris Weitz wants it known: He is going to try to make you cry.
“We’ve tried our best to deliver on the romantic scenes in the film, and I would like to be able to produce more tears than any movie before, if possible,” Weitz told PEOPLE at the Hollywood Film Festival’s Hollywood Awards Monday of capturing moments in the Twilight saga’s love triangle. “If we could only weigh them with some kind of cubic tear measure!”
Weitz, who took over the directing reins from Catherine Hardwick, admits delivering the passion, thrills and heartache in the hotly anticipated sequel wasn’t easily done.
Having featured the members of the wolf pack last week, VF.com is switching its allegiance to vampires. On a frigid day in New York City, I caught up with actor Peter Facinelli in between his “medical” commitments—he plays a human doctor on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and a bloodsucking one, the 400-year-old Dr. Carlisle Cullen, in the Twilight saga—to discuss how New Moon differs from the first Twilight movie, his role as a father figure on and off the set, and what he really thinks of his fellow vampires.
As the patriarch of the Cullen clan, have you assumed a similar fatherly role with the cast?
You know, on Twilight I feel like they looked to me as the father figure, but because we became so close, I’m more of an older brother now.
He’s bigger than Ben-Hur at the moment, if you believe all the hype. Yet to come face-to-face with Robert Pattinson is to meet a serious artist, a multi-talented individual who could as easily have been a classical or funky musician as a movie star.
The Twilight juggernaut is propelling the 23-year-old British actor to the heights of mega stardom and, having previously only played minor roles, most notably as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, he is making the most of it.
Here is the first clip and what Maria had to say about the first part of the interview:
Ok, finally, here is more from my interview with Rob Pattinson in Cannes at the film festival. Sorry it took so long. I will do more of these where Rob talks about Kristen, New moon, his crazy fans and how it makes him feel to read about himself online. Because he does. He said so.
In an interview given to FoForks, a Brazilian Twilight fan site, Daniel spoke about how fun “beating up” Rob in the fight scene was.
Here’s what he said:
Ok, so now about that terrible, horrendous, no-words-for-it scene when you beat the shizz out of The Sparkle One in New Moon, how did you feel about beating up our most beloved creature known as Edward? How did you sleep that night knowing that thousand of hearts had been broken and that now you are the hero of those Twilight widows? (FYI, those who girlfriends and wives were stolen by Mr. Edward and wanted to beat him up themselves lol)
– Haha, it was a fun fight scene to work on and Robert really liked doing as much of the fight as he could, I slept like a baby afterwards. We’ll see how everyone feels after the movie comes out, and if they don’t like my character, then i did a good job.
