Robert Pattinson’s interview with Metro France 1 comment
From Twilight to the cinema of David Cronenberg, that’s a big step. It is the beginning of a new career for you?
Firstly, to be here with this movie, it’s amazing. For a young actor like me, for people who really like cinema, it’s the ultimate festival. One of the only ones that considers cinema like an art form. Here it’s not about being a celebrity and all that comes with it. To go back on the subject of my career, it’s probably the start of something. Because shooting Cosmopolis gave me the confidence I needed to invest myself in projects that really interest me.
You started in England but you became famous because of Hollywood. Do you think young american actors see Cannes like you do?
Maybe … until the day their movie gets selected *laughs*. In the US, Cannes isn’t given a lot of media coverage, we talk about it more in a professional environment. Whereas in London, the festival is on the first page of the newspapers for two weeks. The thing that is weird here is all these people that clap for you at the end of the screening. I went to the one for On the Road (note: wednesday night) and it hit me. In the USA, people leave as soon as the credits roll. I asked david what would happen if we were booed with Cosmopolis. Do we have to stay up for 20 minutes anyway? *laughs*
Apparently, you’re a fan of Cronenberg. Did you sign on for one of his movies without reading a script?
Absolutely. I did so last week! My agent asked me if I was reading for the next movie with David and I said yes without thinking *laughs*. For Cosmopolis tho, I read the script one year before it got offered to me and I foudn it excellent. On the first read, I felt a connection. It talked to me without me even knowing what it was about.
Cronenberg didn’t make you rehearse or explain to you that he wanted to discover the meaning of the movie during the shoot. It didn’t scare you?
Its’ pretty understandable because the script is really complicated and can be taken in many different ways. David didn’t talk to me a lot, indeed. We had a brief conversation, that’s it. I remember being sitted in my hotel room two weeks before filming; telling myself: “My god!” The very first days, I was terrified. We did camera tests. I was sitting in the limo, I didn’t have anything to do … and I almost threw up. My heart was beating so fast, I was scared David was going to fire me, that he thought I was a faker. But he was really relaxed. His crew explained to me that for the first week, he didn’t know what he was doing, but that it was normal … That he was trying to find a meaning to the movie. As soon as we found our rhythm, we went faster and faster. At the end of the filming, we only did one take per scene. It was crazy. For the last one, we had 4 days scheduled, we did it in one day and a half.

*VIDEO* CNN Mexico talks about Robert Pattinson and Mission: Blacklist 2 comments
Translation:
The Hollywood Reporter informs that Robert Pattinson will be one of the stars of a movie that will tell about a definite chapter in the USA intervention in Iraq, one of Pattinson’s most recent films: Cosmopolis, directed by David Cornenberg will be in competition in the Cannes film festival in France. But returning to the other project, my partner has more information.
Woman: That’s right, this project, Mission: Blacklist #1 is giving the star of the Twilight Saga the opportunity to leave his image of a romantic vampire and play the role of one of the men responsible for the capture of the expresident of Iraq, Saddam Hussain. We are accompanied by Lysa Rivera, welcome Lysa.
Even though the last Twilight movie isn’t in theaters yet, Pattinson is securing his next projects, especially after a big fenomenon like Twilight, what do you think about this new project?Lysa: Well, like you mentioned, this movie is a very strong psychological thriller, according to the notes I have, based on the tellings of one of the soldiers that was participating in the capture of one of the cruelest men in modern history. A long time ago, Robert was looking for other parts that would help him draw outside of what he was doing with the Twilight franchise. We’ve seen him in ‘Water For Elephants’ with Reese Witherspoon, where he played her love interest and it was a drama directed torwards love, but the set design and costumes let us know it was an ambicious film and Pattinson did a good job in it. But when he had to go back to Twilight, he commented to the media that he wanted to continue along the lines he had set as an actor with different roles, so that he could be taken more seriously and have a bigger future in his career.
Mission: Blacklist is a very strong script by Erik Jendresen and it will present not only political themes, but also very harsh dialogues where we will be able to see how this young actor takes it to screen, it’s a challenge for him and we’ll have to pay attention.Man: We will be paying attention, and I think that his movie in Cannes by David Cronenberg, which is also in competition for the Golden Palm, and that’s so important, will show us another side of Pattinson and he probably won’t go through what is happening to Daniel Radcliffe, who is still demonstrating that he’s more than Harry Potter, and I think he has the talent to do it.

New Robert Pattinson Interview with Premiere about ‘Mission: Blacklist’ 4 comments
Robert Pattinson, who is bound to suprise a lot of people in three weeks when Cosmopolis will be presented at Cannes, doesn’t seem to want to stop there yet. The ‘adult’ turn the star star is taking will go further with Mission: Blacklist, the new movie by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, director of the impressive Johnny mad Dog in 2008. The movie is a thriller inspired by Eric Maddox’s book, the military interrogator who was the brain of the operation that lead to the capture of Saddam Hussein in December 2003. Erik Jendresen, screenwriter for Band of Brothers is in charge of the adaptation, with ashooting that should be starting in the fall.‘We’re going to do some scout locations in Iraq soon.’“As jean-Stéphane is used to work with non professional actors, I thought I had no chance of getting the role,” Robert Pattinson told us recently. “But we met a few times and we clicked. He found a fascinating way to treat that subject. It’s weird because it’s a movie about war but it’s essentially focusing on the interrogations. The language and the barriers he could create played an important role. But it’s essentially teh story of a true sldier, Eric Maddox, with who we’re leaving for Iraq soon for some scouting.’
“Jean-Stéphane is truly surprising” says Pattinson. “He has talent when it comes to meeting people. Like, for example, out of nowhere, he got to spend some time with the Iraqi Minister of Culture. he also got to meet this guys who was a former chief of the Hussein clan and he was really closed to him. I asked him: ‘How do you get to meet a man like that?’ He said he met him in a bar in Paris!”
After Johnny Mad Dog, immersed in the every day life of extremely violent kids – turned solders – in Liberia, Sauvaire seems to have found a new subject cut out for his explosive film making technics. “Johnny Mad Dog was an extremely strong piece, that possessed a truly documentary value, while still being cinematic,” says Pattinson with enthusiasm. “I cannot wait to work with him on Mission: Blacklist. It’s going to be a f***ing good movie.”
