Robert Pattinson Did Not Give The Daily Record an Interview   5 comments

Thank you so much to Gossip Cop.

Two things are for certain:

(1) There is audio of Robert Pattinson discussing sex scenes in “Bel Ami.”

 (2) He most assuredly did not grant the Daily Record an interview.

Here is what happened.

Yes, there’s audio of Pattinson, but he didn’t tell the Daily Record, “The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing.”

The full audio, recorded at a recent roundtable discussion with several journalists in London, has Pattinson saying that his character and Uma Thurman’s marry about two-thirds of the way into “Bel Ami,” and “the sex scenes with Uma… if they, if they work out how they are in the script… they’d be like kind of disturbing in a way.”

It’s important to note, though, that the printed comment alters the sequence and wording of Pattinson’s comments.

It’s equally important to Gossip Cop that Pattinson was not interviewed by the Daily Record, and the paper was not among the approved outlets at the roundtable.

When Gossip Cop asked about the circumstances surrounding the audio, one editor at the paper said he was “unaware” if the person who furnished the tab with the audio identified himself as a reporter for the Daily Record. And another editor said whether the writer “identified himself as representing the Daily Record” was “immaterial.”

But it’s not immaterial. Especially since the Daily Record wasn’t an approved media outlet.

The paper was able to print Pattinson’s words (while no other outlet at the roundtable did) because, not having been identified as a participant, the Daily Record did not abide by certain restrictions.

And since it was not an approved outlet, that’s why a Pattinson source told Gossip Cop – correctly – that the star “never spoke to the [Scottish] Daily Record.”

Even Pattinson, according to the source, didn’t know he was being taped by someone who was going to later supply the Daily Record with the (edited) quotes.

So, at the end of the day… yeah, Pattinson said some of what the paper claims — though not word for word, according to the audio — but he had absolutely no idea he was being “interviewed” by the Daily Record.

Robert Pattinson "Daily Record" Interview A Fabrication   5 comments

Any comments attributed to Robert Pattinson are going to get huge attention, especially with regards to the highly anticipated Bel Ami he’s making with Uma Thurman, and especially if outlets can throw in the word “sex.”

“The sex scenes with Uma are kind of disturbing,” Pattinson is quoted as saying to The Daily Record. The comments were quickly (and not surprisingly) picked up everywhere. “[Thurman’s character] kind of uses sex as a sort of weapon and my character thinks like an animal,” Pattinson supposedly adds.

Bel Ami is an adaptation of French writer Guy de Maupassant’s novel, in which Georges Duroy (Pattinson) is a social climbing journalist and playboy. As Gossip Cop confirmed last month, Christina Ricci has also signed on to the project.

Gossip Cop was told by a source close to Pattinson that the Daily Record interview is a “fabrication.”

The source adds, Pattinson “never spoke to the [Scottish] Daily Record.”

'Bel Ami' Casting Complete and Filming to Begin February 7th   6 comments

From Collider:

Over the last few months, pre-production on Robert Pattinson’s Bel Ami has been charging forward as we’ve covered the casting of Christina Ricci and Uma Thurman/Kristin Scott Thomas.  Now that the casting of the major players has been completed, we’ve been told principal photography on Bel Ami is scheduled to begin February 7 and they’ll be filming in London and Budapest.  Here’s the synopsis:

Bel Ami is the story of Georges Duroy (Robert Pattinson), who travels through 1890s Paris, from cockroach ridden garrets to opulent salons, using his wits and powers of seduction to rise from poverty to wealth, from a prostitute’s embrace to passionate trysts with wealthy beauties, in a world where politics and media jostle for influence, where sex is power and celebrity an obsession.

Based on the synopsis, I think Pattinson’s female fanbase is going to be very happy watching this movie.  Hit the jump for more:

Robert Pattinson (1).jpgThe other bit of news we were informed of  is exactly who each actor is playing in the film and some more casting info.  Here’s what we were sent:

Robert Pattinson plays Georges Duroy in this erotically charged story of ambition, power and seduction. Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill) is Madeleine, Kristin Scott Thomas (Nowhere Boy, I’ve Loved You So Long) is Virginie, Christina Ricci (Monster, The Ice Storm) is Clotilde, Holly Grainger (Scouting Book for Boys) is Suzanne, Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Calendar Girls) is Charles, and Colm Meaney (The Damned United, The Snapper) plays Duroy’s adversary, Rousset.  The screenplay is written by Rachel Bennette from the novel by Guy de Maupassant, and the film is directed by the influential and innovative Cheek By Jowl directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod.

BEL AMI is produced by Uberto Pasolini (The Full Monty, Machan) with Simon Fuller as executive producer.  The director of photography is Hagen Bogdanski (The Young Victoria, The Lives of Others); Attila F. Kovacs (Sunshine, Meeting Venus) is production designer; the costumes are designed by Odile Dicks-Mireaux (An Education, The Constant Gardener); the hair and make-up designer is Jenny Shircore (The Young Victoria, Elizabeth: The Golden Age) and the editor is Masahiro Hirakubo (The Duchess, Trainspotting).

UPDATED: After London, Bel Ami filming Budapest, Hungary, week of April 5 for exterior scenes. Filming is scheduled to wrap in late April. (thanks to @BelAmiMovie on Twitter)

Holly Grainger Confirmed To Be Cast With Robert Pattinson In Bel Ami   13 comments

Robert Pattinson fans will recall Holliday (Holly) Grainger from The Bad Mother’s Handbook, she starred opposite him in 2007 as pregnant teen Charlie Cooper. We are very excited about this addition to the cast.  As we reported before:

In the script, the character of Suzanne is Mme Rousset (Kristin Scott-Thomas)  and Rousset’s (Colm Meaney) young daughter and is pivotal to the story. Young Suzanne Rousset is closely involved with Robert Pattinson’s character of Georges Duroy in Bel Ami.

'Bel Ami' Sex Scenes Revealed   5 comments

New details are out about Robert Pattison‘s new movie, Bel Ami, as the screenplay has leaked and it looks like some of his young fans will not to be allowed in the theater.  Pattison will play journalist Georges Duroy from Guy de  Maupassant’s 19th century novel, who gets ahead by getting in on with powerful women.

Filming will start next month, as will his onscreen love scenes that will go way beyond Twilight and New Moon. Life & Style reports from the script on a sex romp with Christina Ricci‘s character Clotilde that both characters are “surprised by the intensity of the racy encounter” and  “Tender, aching moments pass before George asks Clotilde ‘Now?’ “…I’m sorry, what were we talking about?

Oh, other sex scenes include a tryst with Umma Thurman which is “quick and efficient while sitting at a desk” and “rough and ravenous with Virgie (Kristin Scott Thomas) on the floor” and “up against a door with a prostitute.”

Uma Thurman Speaks About Robert Pattinson and 'Bel Ami'   3 comments

UMA THURMAN has a number of films in the works this year, including the President’s Weekend opening of the much-anticipated fantastical film adaptation of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, as well as Ceremony—directed by Max Winkler (“He’s the Fonz’s son and incredibly talented!” gushes Thurman)—Eloise in Paris, Bel Ami with Robert Pattinson and a third installment of the Kill Bill series.

LAC: What’s special about your upcoming film Bel Ami besides Robert Pattinson, who is so big right now, being your costar?

UT: He is a big star right now. I’m excited because the film is a classical, technical piece of work, and it’s beautiful. It’s a bit of bedroom drama. It’s a romance between Rob and a number of Parisian housewives.

LAC: And you’re one of the love interests?

UT: I end up marrying him, but there are some twists. My daughter is like, “Mom, why do you keep getting these roles where you’re getting younger men?” And I said, “Well at least I don’t do it in real life.
