Robert Pattinson Talks Twilight Spin-Off to the Herald Sun   1 comment

Robert Pattinson, in Sydney to promote Breaking Dawn Part 2, has refused to rule out the possibility of playing Edward Cullen in a Twilight spin off.

”I don’t say ‘definitely not’ to anything – just in case,” said the 26-year-old Brit ahead of a special fan-based event at Moore Park.

As anticipation builds for the final film in Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling franchise – which opens in Australia on November 15 – Pattinson fuelled speculation that his vampire clan’s domination of the international box office was not yet over.

”Who knows?” Pattinson said.

”I keep hearing things – from the studio as well.”

About 100 lucky Twihards have scored tickets to tonight’s invite-only event at Byron Kennedy Hall, run as a competition by commercial radio network Nova.

But hundreds more fans were expected to line the red carpet to catch a glimpse of the Twilight star.

met Taylor was… in the first scene actually.

Q: Who was the biggest prankster on set? Or the biggest jokester?
M: Rob was pretty funny. He had some pretty funny jokes.
Q: He made you laugh a lot?
M: Yes. And Mr. Guri, he was really funny too.

Robert Pattinson, the teen vampire, had the great idea of taking a lot of different role while he was shooting the Twilight movies and today it rewards him. Journ: Are you vampirised by the cinema today? Rob: I hope so. In a certain way. It’s a very complicated job and the ambiance is quite criticized. I like it and if I still have new offer, it’s great. It’s quite unexpected. It’s true. I didn’t expect any of it but it happens currently. The winning strategy consists in not making people forget about his character but to use him a step stone. Today he is at the top of his carreer and Robert Pattinson can do whatever he wants, like other heroes did before him.

David Cronenberg talks about Cosmopolis and Robert Pattinson   2 comments

From Reading Eagle:

“Eric wasn’t born into money. I think you see Eric become more vulnerable and more childlike and naive, and when he’s in the barber chair he becomes like himself as a child, before he’d erected this Eric character, this Master of the Universe guy. So you should gradually warm up to him as you realize how vulnerable and how wounded he is.

“It’s why I cast Robert,” Cronenberg added. “It’s a very uncompromising performance. We don’t go out of our way to make him more likable than he is, but you want to watch him. He’s very charismatic, Rob.

“Cosmopolis” is Pattinson’s show, and it’s as far removed as it could be from the commercial gloss and sparkly vampires of the “Twilight” films but Cronenberg lauds his leading man for his often-overlooked, still largely untapped talents as an actor.

Rob is in every scene of this movie,” the filmmaker said, “and I needed a guy who could support that. His accent is spot-on – it’s very much like Don DeLillo’s accent. He brings a wry sense of humor, and he brings that strange emotionality that you feel from underneath because, as I say, it’s not there from the beginning, because it’s a journey in more ways than one.

You have to see Eric evolve and, thanks to Rob, you do,” Cronenberg said. “I think it’s a spectacular performance, very nuanced and detailed.”

Like everyone with a stake in “Cosmopolis,” Cronenberg hopes that Pattinson’s legions of “Twi-hard” fans will turn out en masse for “Cosmopolis.” Based on the production of the film, he said, that might happen.

“The Twi-hards followed this movie hugely,” Cronenberg said. “There were 20 to 30 sites devoted to ‘Cosmopolis,’ some of them really quite spectacular, professional and slick, and they were being done mostly by Twi-hards, who are mostly girls, and they were reading the book. They were reading the book and commenting on it, on these sites, before the movie was finished.”

The director is clearly impressed.

“That was incredibly satisfying,” he said. “They were loving the book and the idea that Rob was doing it, and they’re supporting Rob’s choice.

I got a lot of props myself,” Cronenberg added with a laugh, “because the Rob fans are rooting for him to show what he can do as an actor and, therefore, they loved me for giving him the chance.

“That was their attitude, though my attitude was that I felt lucky to have Rob.”

Patti Smith mentions Robert Pattinson in an interview with EW   Leave a comment

From EW:

Is singer-writer and early punk inspiration Patti Smith a fan of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson?

You bet.

The iconic performer, who is steadily working with Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan (in between touring) on the script for a film adaptation of her 2010 bestselling memoir Just Kids, about her relationship with photographer Robbert Mapplethorpe when the two were starving young artists in New York City, voiced her appreciation of the Twilight stars to EW just before her small, private concert for Los Angeles radio station KCRW on Wednesday. She added that she could see the pair playing her and Mapplethorpe on screen … when they were lesser known.

“I remember the very first time I saw Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson together, when they were younger, and I thought, ‘Those two kids could have easily played us when they were first starting,” said Smith. “There’s something in his eyes. And Robert [Mapplethorpe] was also a bit shy, and a bit stoic. Kristen has a very special quality. She’s not conventionally beautiful, but very charismatic.”

Daniel Cudmore mentions Robert Pattinson in an interview   2 comments

From Glamour UK

Q: Phew! Did you get to hang out much with Rob, Kristen and Taylor during filming?

A: Um, not so much Taylor. Rob and Kristen a little bit, here and there. During filming they were always working. So, a little bit off camera, but not a lot.

Q: Because you had that great scene with Robert in New Moon, is that the one that people talk to you most about?

A: I think so, just because it was the first experience with the character and also the fact the lead character is almost being killed, um, a lot of fans weren’t too happy with me, which in turn I was thrilled about because it means I did my job properly.
