Tate Ellington Speaks About Auditioning for “Remember Me” & Meeting Rob   Leave a comment

Q: Tell us a little about auditioning for “Remember Me” to being on set to now seeing it on the big screen.

A: The audition process for “Remember Me” was a nightmare. I had to go in four separate times over the course of a few months. The first time I went in I didn’t think I was right for the part, I had only read half the script and I forgot my sides. I was off to a great start. I was told that I had done great, but they were going to try and find a “name” in L.A. If they didn’t find a name then I would be in the running. I figured that was it, and put it out of my mind. A month later, I got a call that I would be coming back in for the director. I thought the director hated me. I thought I was doing so badly that I almost got and apologized for wasting everybody’s time. Turns out he loved me. A few weeks later I went to meet Rob and do a screen test with him. Luckily, I was performing on Broadway at the time so I could relax a little bit because I new I had a paycheck. Rob was great! The screen test went wonderfully. The director and producer loved me, but Summit still wasn’t sold. I had to go back in a few later to sort of hash out what I would do with the character. The director fought for me and eventually I got the job. It is strange to see it out there. It is completely out of your hands now. It’s an odd feeling. I am extremely proud to have been a part of it. I have read most of the comments and reviews about it. I am so thankful that they love it or hate it — that people are actually talking about it. I love that people actually have an opinion about it and a strong one at that.

The British Actor Robert Pattinson , famous for his role in Twilight , is in Remember Me, a drama in which there’s also Pierce Brosnan.

Synopsis

After a fight with a cop, Tyler decides to take revenge on him by seducing his daughter. Ally will bring him the peace of mind he was looking forward because Tyler he is a rebellious young man. He is angry at himself, he doesn’t accept the suicide of his brother, he rebels against his father; a famous lawyer. He reproaches him with not showing enough love to his children.

RP: I read this script after shooting Twilight. These 2 stories are completely different. In Remember Me , it’s very honest and that’s why I wanted to do it. I love love stories because we find a lot of things to do.

Robert Pattinson has become an international star thanks to the success of Twilight. He is considered as the new sex symbol in Hollywood and nowadays he is compared to James Dean. He attracts audiences and in fact the shooting of Remember Me was in NY and the actors had to get used to the screaming fans.

RP: the crowd there was much more important than for Twilight. I remember especially the scene we shot in Central Park, there were more than 2,000 people waiting for something to happen. Ruby, who plays my little sister, and I were spied on. I don’t know what they were expecting. Maybe an explosion. But nothing happened. It was a simple discussion scene .

With Remember Me Robert Pattinson has finally a mature role which enables him to show his talent. A beautiful love story, Remember Me is also a gorgeous drama. Extremely captivating. You won’t forget its ending.

Robert Pattinson in France's TéléLoisir – New Interview (With Translation)   Leave a comment

Here’s my translation of the interview for you guys.

Note: I’d take the album part with a grain of salt.

——————–

New York, in the living room of a large hotel. It’s not a teen idol that shows up in his leather jacket, but a discreet comedian that faces his career and idol status with a killer smile.

TL: Remember Me is your first movie since the Twilight Saga. Not too much pressure?

Rob: Now that the movie’s coming out, I’m starting to get nervous. I felt like doing a story based in reality. It’s not only a love story. The characters face loss, sorrow and life. It’s not an action movie that will take over the box office but it’s important to me.

TL: Regarding filming in New York, this summer was a bit crazy….

Rob: It was crazy! There were fans everywhere. Paparazzi would call out my name during scenes. The second assistant to the Director got angry. I thought it was going to be a small movie, filmed peacefully in the streets of New York (Laughs).

TL: Do you fully assume your superstar status?

Rob: I think when you’re in the spot light, the best solution is to keep the mystery going. Anyways, my public persona will not help my career. I’ve learned to go by unnoticed! It wasn’t easy but it paid off well. Therefore I don’t feel the need to rebel against the system.

TL: Like Tyler, your character who’s in full rebellion, where you a rebel as a teenager?

Rob: Not really. But I have to say that my parents were really understanding. When they realized that I wasn’t that invested in school my dad said: “Very well, stop your courses but you’ll have to find a job.”

TL: What are your other projects?

Rob: I play guitar and I hope to get an album out by the end of the year. I also started filming Bel Ami. I manipulate using love and sex intelligent actors such as Kristin Scott Thomas. It’s very odd! (Laughs).

Something You Won't Forget- 'Remember Me'   Leave a comment

Pôster Oficial de Remember Me! by PaulaSalvs.

Many people were curious to see what Robert Pattinson had up his sleeve for “Remember Me,” especially “Twilight” fans and critics. A question on a lot of people’s minds was, “can he be anything more than Edward Cullen?” Although the critics were scattered on their answer to that question, Pattinson’s performance in “Remember Me” is hard to ignore. I believe Pattinson did a beautiful job in this drama-he will be gracing us with his presence in the theatre for a long time (and not always as Edward).

“Remember Me” is not your average “boy meets girl” story (and it is definitely not a first-date movie). The first scene in the movie shows a mother and a daughter waiting for the subway. They are mugged and the mother is shot, leaving her daughter, Ally (Emilie de Ravin from “Lost”) living with her father, a cop struggling with alcoholism. Ally meets Tyler Hawkins (Pattinson), who has his own baggage-and by baggage, I mean a backpack, two carry-ons, and a suitcase full of problems. Tyler’s relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan) is less-than-perfect. Tyler’s father divorced his mother after Tyler’s brother committed suicide, leaving his family very divided. As Ally and Tyler struggle with their dysfunctional families and life in their early twenties, they fall in love. At this point in the movie most of the audience loves it; however, it is the ending that will leave you in either adoration or tears.

After the movie ended and the credits began to role, I really wasn’t sure what to think. It was so unlike anything I had ever seen before and not at all what I was expecting. I had high expectations, and this movie went above and beyond. “Remember Me” is a dark and gritty portrayal of a boy in his early twenties dealing with the hardships and joys of life-leaving the audience to appreciate each and every moment. The biggest shock about this movie (no worries, this isn’t a spoiler): Robert Pattinson can act.

5/5 stars

Entertainment Focus Coverage of the Remember Me UK Press Conference   Leave a comment

EF was fortunate enough to be invited along to the premiere of Robert Pattinson’s latest drama Remember Me, which is released in cinemas today. We caught up with Robert, his co-star Emilie de Ravin and one of the film’s producers Nick Osborne as they discussed the making of one of this year’s finest films.

Robert Pattinson had been looking for a new direction between Twilight sequels and literally read hundreds of scripts before picking Remember Me. He liked the naturalistic dialogue of the story and how the story dealt with grief. He also noted that this character starts and ends the movie as pretty much the same guy- it was a young part devoid of the usual Hollywood transitions when everything ties up nicely at the end. He joked that he doesn’t really like anything so picking a next project was easy. He clearly isn’t driven by money either so when the opportunity for Remember Me came along, he knew it was the right project. Robert also feels like these types of movies aren’t around very much today and saw a gap in the market to do such a narrative.

When asked if he feels that Tyler and Edward Cullen are similar brooding characters, he thinks that Tyler isn’t very broken or damaged at all, at least not how he saw him. He never felt that Tyler was brooding and that’s probably why Pattinson’s performance is so convincing here – it’s a character with no sense of pretention even though Robert admitted to liking Tyler’s audacity. Robert feels that the success of Twilight and indeed Lost will give Remember Me some publicity that will hopefully attract a bigger audience to the drama. I feel that it’s because of his other successes that Pattinson can take on roles like this and in many respects get a movie made that may struggle without his pulling-power. Remember Me also goes a long way to showcase Robert Pattinson as a serious actor and one that will have career longevity past The Twilight Saga.

On his co-stars, Robert loved the sense of humour and sarcasm of Emilie de Ravin. He also said that he finds her very funny when she doesn’t mean to be funny! This got a wry look off Emilie! He also joked that she can hold her drink and when they went out after the audition she downed something like 24 beers and still was stone-cold sober! Robert was genuinely chuffed at the chance to work alongside former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan too. He never thought that they would be able to get him to play the part of Charles Hawkins and according to Robert, Pierce managed to change the dynamic of his character with his natural charisma. He also loved working alongside Ruby Jerins who plays Tyler’s sister Caroline. Their relationship is a strong reason to why the film works so well. Robert said that Ruby could improvise with him for hours and acting came very easy to her. He also said that he has always wanted a younger sibling.

Emilie de Ravin has been a familiar face to thousands of viewers on Lost and Roswell. Remember Me finds her starring opposite the hottest young actor in Hollywood today and marks her first major leading role. Emilie was genuinely surprised at the turn out for the London premiere which found hordes of fans waiting for days to catch a glimpse of the cast. She said that the films script didn’t actually feel like a script thanks to its honesty and organic feel. She was also surprised to learn that Robert acted as executive-producer on Remember Me too. On her co-stars, Emilie cites Chris Cooper as a very giving actor who was a joy to work alongside. Her New-York accent is brilliant in the film and she admitted that it was important to get right as it adds layers of the character of Ally. When asked about the end of Lost, Emilie said that she felt bittersweet about it all even though it has been an amazing ride to take. Nevertheless she is feeling positive about the future and the projects that will hopefully come her way. She doesn’t want to pigeon-hole herself as an actress and she is well aware that you can’t please every fan which highlights the importance of always doing something challenging.

Co-producer Nick Osborne told us that Remember Me is a project which has been in development for the better part of 4 years. He, like Robert Pattinson, wanted the project to handle in a certain way and consulted with its star frequently. An element of the script that appealed to him was the story of a young man who wasn’t clued-up from the get-go but someone that finds what he wants throughout the story. He also told us a funny story about the Robert and Chris Cooper fight scene. Robert joked that he is too scared to get into real fights as people would like to kill him just because of who he is! Nick Osborne said that as Robert was preparing for the scene he turned around and saw Chris Cooper doing press-ups and felt genuine fear for Robert! He didn’t envy him that day. Robert also said that when he was filming the scene he was required to actually punch the stunt-man. He was told that he has a very weak punch which he said was an ego-deflator!

The press conference drew on some light-hearted general questions towards the end too. Robert feels that his natural accent isn’t quite regarded as London anymore and that he had an idea of Tyler’s accent from when he initially read the script. This voice never changed for him and that’s what we hear in the movie. I for one think his American accent is flawless and a few actors could take notes on Pattinson’s performance in Remember Me. Robert stated that he doesn’t really have any heroes outside of his family, who are his inspiration as are his friends. He also said that he is lucky to have a circle of friends who have grown up with him. He also feels genuine surprise when people regard him as a hero.

Then the press conference ended with a funny but bizarre question – what was Robert and Emilie’s favourite biscuit?! Emilie mentioned an Australian brand that no-one seemed to have heard of whilst Robert said that he was in America once and tried Chicken and Biscuits. He thought “why would they want to eat chicken with biscuits?!” But of course, in the States, biscuits are more like muffins and after he tried it he thought it was really nice! He said that the experience changed his opinion on what can be defined as a biscuit but if he had to pick a traditional biscuit it would be a Hob-nob!

Remember Me opens in cinemas today and I urge you all to catch it – its Robert Pattinson’s finest work to date.

Rob and Emilie Unable to Attend Paris Premiere of "Remember Me"   Leave a comment

Earlier this week, word began spreading on twitter that Rob and Emilie would be attending the Paris premiere of ‘Remember Me’ April 6. The rumors began when French online movie site Allocine, posted a contest to win tickets to the premiere Tuesday.

Now our follower @Moonmela has received confirmation that indeed Rob will not be attending the Paris premiere. Melanie emailed the film’s distributor (SND).

She translated their reply for us:
“Unluckily, nor Robert Pattison or Emilie de Ravin will be able to attend the RM Premiere in Paris on April 6th for planning reasons”

By planning, they likely mean scheduling conflicts. As we know from the daily news out of Budapest, Rob is busy wrapping up ‘Bel Ami’ in that country, while Emilie is working on the last season of ‘Lost’.
