Christina Ricci mentioned Rob and ‘Bel Ami’ in a new interview with Modern Luxury Dallas.

As she heads into the fall, Ricci is already generating buzz for her role in another period piece, Bel Ami (at press time, it’s yet to be picked up for distribution) in which she, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas get to take turns being entranced by Robert Pattinson. “He’s great; he’s really an awesome guy. I had a lot of fun working with him,” says Ricci. She goes to say that, despite captivating legions of teenage girls everywhere (along with most of their mothers), Pattinson maintains a respectable on-set ethic. “He’s so professional,” she continues. “He comes to set with no expectations or attitude. None of those things you worry someone of his level of fame is going to have.”

Christina Ricci talked a little about Rob and Bel Ami in a new interview with Collider (Click to read the full interview)

What was it like to be seduced by Robert Pattinson for Bel Ami?
RICCI: Oh, he’s absolutely lovely! He’s great in the movie. It’s a very different role for him. It’s classic Guy de Maupassant. It’s very interesting, grittier material. It’s really good.

According to The Playlist, Bel Ami might premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
From The Playlist:
Robert Pattinson seems keen to establish himself as An Actor. While the drippy, manipulative “Remember Me” was a miss, Pattinson proved himself a non-vampire draw with “Water For Elephants” earlier this year which powered itself to a strong $115 million worldwide. And with David Cronenberg‘s “Cosmopolis” and the period pic “Bel Ami” on the way, he seems eager to shake off the adolescent stink of “Twilight.” While we have to wait and see how successful that attempt is, as these new pics from the latter film show, he’s going to be turning up the heat in the process.
Based on the book by Guy de Maupassant and featuring Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci, “Bel Ami” will find Pattinson playing George Duroy, a sexy social climber in turn-of-the-century 1890s Paris, who seduces his way to wealth and fame from a poor beginning. Thurman will play the wife of one of Duroy’s friends who eventually marries Pattinson’s seductive schemer. Kristin Scott Thomas will appear as a woman who overestimates Duroy’s attachment to her. These pics show Pattinson easily proving his manhood with the female leads, but whether the film is a winner or not, we won’t know for a while yet.
From what we hear, the producers are aiming for a Berlin Film Festival premiere in 2012 and it might be a while later before it hits theaters as the film is still without a distributor. So stay strong RPatz lovers and let these pics tide you over for now.

Bel Ami finished filming in April 2010 (before Water for Elephants began shooting). Since then we’ve barely heard anything about when the movie will be released. We’ve seen a few stills, a trailer that was quickly pulled, we’ve heard whispers here and there but nothing has been officially confirmed by Protagonist film. We’ve heard that Bel Ami might premiere at TIFF (which we really, really hope will happen). However we have no official confirmation yet.
We’ve been wondering, what’s going on with Bel Ami? When will we get an official release date?
In an interview with Total Films back in March Rob said the following:
“We were really true to the book and because the guy is basically a shit who wins everything at the end it’s really difficult to market it – especially with me in it,” Pattinson tells TF exclusively.
“Everyone’s worried that everyone’s going to be thinking, ‘Oh I want him to be nice, he’s got to be nice to all the ladies’.”
Which means that they were having trouble marketing the movie because it would ruin Rob’s “good guy” image. However to me, this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. All actors play various roles, good and bad. A role does not define the nature of the actor behind the character.
The trailer which was also seen by many people has received great reviews that can be sees here. Which means that people are anticipating this film.
Back in June 2010 Bel Ami was #8 on Shockya’s 10 most anticipated period films as you can see below.
8. Bel Ami
The Story of the rise to power of Georges Duroy in Paris by manipulating the city’s most influential and wealthy women. This film stars Twilight’s Robert Pattinson and many are anxiously waiting to see if Robert can hold his own against Hollywood sirens like Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas.
So my question is the following: The demand is there, when is it going to be released?

ETA From larry411 :
There’s a very simple answer to all your questions!
There’s a very good chance that the film will have its World Premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month. I was told that it would be although we won’t know until next Tuesday when they announce the next round of Galas and Special Presentations. If it is, that would explain why there’s been no release announced since most studios, especially for indies, will use Toronto as a place where distributors will look at the film and bid to buy it. That’s really the way to go. So, if they wanted to submit it for TIFF, and if they hoped it would get in, it would have made no sense at all for them to have released it. It would do MUCH better if it played TIFF, got picked up there, and then got released.
So, the simple answer is…it isn’t being released because they are going to use TIFF to get the best deal possible, which is what all fans should want. That is, IF it will be playing there.
Thanks for the info Larry! Once again you rock 😉

London audiences will see her next in Cary Fukunaga’s dark, surreal Jane Eyre, released in September, and she’s just filmed Bel Ami in London and Budapest opposite Twilight star, Robert Pattinson, which comes out this month.
She is in awe of the way Pattinson has handled his meteoric rise to fame. When they were filming in Budapest, the Hungarian radio stations constantly broadcast their location, so Pattinson had to keep changing hotels.
