Gossip Cop reported today that Rob is not being seen because he’s being hounded by the paps. Does this surprise you? It doesn’t surprise me at all. How awful it must feel to have to stay between four walls because you get chased everywhere you go. Here is the article from Gossip Cop:
Since Gossip Cop has become the destination for accurate “Twilight” stories, a production source came directly to us with details of the stars’ drama.
There’s a reason you haven’t seen much of Robert Pattinson, other than on the set: “Twilight” filmmakers are trying to protect the handsome young star from the prying lenses of the paparazzi. “Every time anyone from the cast emerges from the hotel they’re swarmed by paparazzi,” says the inside source.

And Pattinson is the prime target.
“He’s a prisoner of the paparazzi,” the source tells Gossip Cop. “It’s a nightmare,” adds the source, explaining that Pattinson almost never leaves the hotel except to go to the set. And when he does, the crew has to go great lengths to find ways to transport him from one location to another undetected. Because of the paparazzi, the star has been unable to interact with his many fans.
Gossip Cop hopes the paparazzi will back off so Pattinson and the rest of the cast can concentrate on the film — and their adoring fans.

Thinking of Rob 
but what can we do? what can be done? i dont think anything. it feels kinda helpless. the paps seem to think robs fans want pix of his tonsils…maybe i do but not really 😉 tonsils aside and in all seriousness…this is what they do to any big star and since they scream bloody murder if you try to censor them, what can we really do? i’ve wished for awhile there were better laws for celebrities and the paps. i just doesn’t seem right to have to endure dozens of cameras in your face. i really thought we had some sort of personal space laws LOL…whatever…i have no solution and that makes me bummed. i’m leavin’ it alone because i can’t do anything but frown.
Same here. I’m at a complete loss because I know that to a certain extent, I’m responsible for the hell Rob is going through with the paparazzi. I feel impotent and helpless in the situation. What am I supposed to do? Not be a fan anymore? For me, that’s just not possible. I can only hope Rob is finding happiness and peace SOMEWHERE, and that this craziness doesn’t force him to leave movies for good.
him leaving movies for good feels like utter devastation. i know thats dramatic but i would feel so incredibly sad. talent like his (not to mention a face like his ;)) should never be put back in a box and stored away.
I agree 100%. It would be the one of the biggest wastes of talent…and good looks….that we’d ever see.
I agree with both of you. I would be such a waste, he doesn’t deserve this at all.

i see why you might feel like that sometimes but i dont think thats the answer. he wouldnt have the opportunities in his career that he does now without the adoration and attention from the fans. thats just a fact. and the career path he’s chosen comes with a really ugly side. we know he’s not the first nor the last to be subjected to intense pap invasion. and its kinda scary to think once the paps dont care anymore you’re usually a has been…unless you’re a classic star still bringin in the bucks (julia roberts, denzel washington, etc.)….its such a fine balance for him i think…and his management. u want the attention because it helps you strike while the irons hot yet the attention is so suffocating. i think he’s gonna have to wait for the next big thing and hope hollywood remembers his name. i think they will because as his fans, rob’s in our blood now 🙂 and that equals dollars to the industry.

ack! i said id leave it alone and i didn’t LOL i cant shut up. i think its gonna be like this for a minute. i think he’ll continue making movies because he likes that part. he’ll make more adult movies to shake the teen vibe (and crazy babies) and bring more maturity to his career. the other stuff will level out just not yet. and when the dust clears and the paps go, he’ll still have an enormous fan base because we’re loyal to rob like that 🙂 we aint goin no where. ok….im done…i think 😉
And I think Bel Ami is a step in the right direction for him, career-wise.

What is it going to take for cities/towns/whatever to put some laws on the books to control these papz?? I shudder to think. Didn’t we learn anything from what happened to Princess Diana? Honestly, until now I haven’t seen such a frenzy over anyone.
I am so sad for Rob that he’s a virtual prisoner, but at the same time, I’m going to assume he’s safe when I don’t see pictures of him every day from the stalking papz. These papz have really ruined everything for the real fans. Rob barely gives interviews anymore. And just compare any pictures/videos/interviews you see of him from 2008 with any from 2009. Makes me very sad.

It is quite sad. I am glad he has good friends to lean on and good family as well. I wish all cities had tough laws on these paps who feel they have some kind of right to do the things they do. Maybe with Sam being in VanCity soon he will get to go sneak out and see him.
The ‘paps’ have to make a living, too. I am just hoping that Rob got smart and got some camouflage gear, in order to be able to leave the hotel. In which case – no one will know and they’ll all think he’s in his room. Plus, he actually LIKES staying in his room, watching TV, probably gossiping on the ‘phone, or talking with any of his friends in the cast. Life ain’t THAT bad for him. Just think of his ‘Brad Pitt/Redford/Bill Gates’ rich future. I would….. sign for it. If they’d let me.
