The Funny Three—that would be Seth Meyers, Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig—all want a piece of Robert Pattinson. But really, who doesn’t?

On the red carpet for the Primetime Emmy Awards, we fiercely kicked off our campaign to get Rob a hosting spot on Saturday Night Live.

He could be next year’s Justin Timberlake, you follow? Well, according to the SNL crew, they want R.Pattz, too:

We know you’re kicking off the season with Megan Fox, but how about getting Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson on to host?
Seth Meyers: We would love to get Robert Pattinson. How dare you tell me he’s the hot guy from Twilight, like I don’t already know!

Seth Meyers, closet Twilight, or maybe just Rob Pattinson fan. We love it! So the powers that be at SNL would be into Rob hosting?
S.M.: Yes, absolutely.

Think of all the ridiculous skits you could do with him. The possibilities are endless! That hair…
S.M.: We’re actually hoping if [Rob’s] not available, at least his hair will come by and host.

If you all didn’t already heart the adorable Seth Meyers, bet you Twi lovers do now! Kristen Wiig is totally into the idea too.

We’re campaigning for Rob to host SNL this season. Will it happen?
Kristen Wiig: Oh! I don’t know. I don’t know about that yet!

Would you give him the A-OK?
K.W.: Oh yeah, he’d be great!

Two down…one more to go. Andy Samberg, whom we just want to snuggle, was busy making his way inside, but not before giving Rob the thumbs-up. Literally. When we asked A.S. real fast if he thought Pattinson would be able to hold his own on SNL, Andy gave the thumbs-up, nodded his head and mouthed, yessss.

You reading us, Rob? Get your handlers to start chatting with the honchos over at Saturday Night Live stat! You’re wanted, not only by the crew over there, but by the people, too…right you all?

Update from Gossip Cop:

Our trouble-making friends at E! ended up starting a rumor last night while campaigning to get Robert Pattinson a hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live.”

They asked three castmembers, Seth MeyersKristen Wiig, and Andy Samberg on the red carpet of the Emmys last night if they would like Pattinson to host SNL this season, and all three gave the thumbs-up. When Meyers was asked, “So the powers that be at SNL would be into Rob hosting?” he responded “Yes, absolutely.”

Well, not long after that the Internet was ablaze with talk that Pattinson may host SNL, and Gossip Cop was e-mailed and Tweeted by hundreds of fans wanting to know the truth – the whole Truth and not just E!’s The Awful Truth.

Here’s what we got: A source close to the show tells Gossip Cop, “He is not currently booked for the season.” But the insider, echoing the castmembers, adds, “the show would love to have him on at any time.” Now brace yourself fans: The source basically said Pattinson was offered an SNL hosting gig, but “apparently there were scheduling conflicts.”

Gossip Cop will let you know if those scheduling conflicts can be resolved.

  1. I can totally see Rob doing SNL. I’m not even sure why, lol. And since I don’t watch that show I would make a special point of tuning in! 🙂

  2. I would also love to see him do “The View” (I would have to take a day off to watch it, lol) or a Barbara Walters special. I’m really surprised she hasn’t snapped him up yet for one of her specials, but I have a feeling he just doesn’t want to do any more interviews. What a shame. Whenever I need a smile or a laugh I watch all his interviews from last year over and over again.

  4. I have to say that as much as I would love—LOVE—for him to do it, I’m not sure he could handle it. he’s a neurotic mess and has to take valium or get ripped before a 45 second trailer presentation, and “leaves his brain at the door” (he has said that) for press events and premieres. How in the world would he handle a 90 minute LIVE sketch comedy??? I’m not saying he couldn’t pull off the sketches, because he could. I am just not so sure that he could do the rest of it.

Although, it would be a great way for him to present himself in a different light…to show the haters what he can do.

Maybe he could start off with a little cameo on Weekend Update first, see how he does.

  5. Oh my goodness. I’ve never heard that he takes valium before he goes on an awards show. I feel so bad for him. Obviously he is more paranoid than I ever thought. It must be so very difficult for him to do any press/media. I can totally understand the fear of getting up in front of an audience as I was scared out of my mind in school whenever we had to get up in front of the class. I admit he did look/sound a bit tipsy at the VMA’s. How ironic that he excels in a profession where speaking in front of crowds and giving interviews is a prerequisite. (((((Rob)))))
