Phew… when all the rumours started going around earlier, that Rob may have been recast in Bel Ami due to scheduling conflict, I was really disappointed. Duroy, the character created by Maupassant, is a great role for Rob. Gossip Cop debunked the rumours earlier. Here is what they had to say:
There has been enormous speculation over the past two days about which films Robert Pattinson will do and which he will not.
In a series of threads on IMDB, for example, fans wondered whether it was true that Pattinson had been recast or dropped out of the film “Bel Ami,” in which he plays an immoral man named George Duroy, based on the short story by Guy de Maupassant. While many thought that he was recast/bowed out because of scheduling issues, Gossip Cop can confirm thatPattinson is still slated to make that movie.
But what about Pattinson re-making “Dune,” a rumor which set Twitter atwitter? While it’s true that Peter Berg remains intent on doing a re-make of the 1984 film that starred Kyle MacLachlan, Robert Pattinson will NOT be in the film, a source close to the actor tells Gossip Cop.
So it’s one in and one out for Pattinson.

Thank God. I’m dying to see Rob as Duroy. BelAmi is one of my favorite novel, and I truly think this role can only benefit Rob’s career.
I agree. I think it would be great for him to play a literary role and I’m pretty sure he’s looking forward to it as well.
He most definitely is looking forward to it! He mentionned being in Paris in early 2010 to film Bel Ami numerous times, while he never talked about Dune.
Plus, I believe that his being in Dune was nothing but rumors, after he was seen leaving Peter Berg’s place in LA, is that right?
I’m really anxious to see Rob tackle the complex role that George Duroy is.

Well, maybe it would sound silly, but I liked the idea of Dune with Rob…Its really cool epic story. And for me it sound much more serious than Duroy. Maybe its good for him as actor to play bad-guy and to ruin romantic image of him, but Paul Atreides is not less dramatic character.
I would like to see Rob in this movie but the only thing is I m not gonna be in Paris when he will film and I m disappointed to not seeing him there!
